Like the new style.

The colors are very easy on the eyes and I think it's breath of fresh air.
The comment D3PART3D made on the avatars to still be on the left made sense as it was confusing at first, but reading posts the whole day made me used to it.

Very much like. +1.

I was refering to the sigs that you all are using is huge. When you scroll the page you basically just see the sigs. It's clutering up the pages because Hardly anyone posts more than 3 lines. Meaning all we see is sigs. The current size limits is 450x150? Can't we just make it 450x75? It will make the place look a bit better and also slightly faster.

And thanks Ron, I'll go check out the UCP to turn them off if the size wont change.

Yes, massive. 450x150 and 30KB - I don't how how we haven't managed to destroy the internet yet.
It's just a series of tubes, you know!

Anything for you and your dialup connection, and old browser that doesn't cache images...
Are there any other fundamentals of the forum you'd like changed? Please make a list!
:P

Ooooooh, gotcha now.

You weren't here during the period when everyone was clamouring for an increase in sig sizes, were you?

Frankly, I don't care much about sig sizes. I use whatever is allowable. Most other forums I come across are far more liberal in their allowance of sig sizes. I guess if you're a MyBB import things here could look overbearing to you. But if you're a MyBB import you have bigger problems than our sig sizes.

td;dr - It's probably not going to change. Turn them off in your UCP.

Compare the sig size of let's say Stuart to the average of about a 1 sentence post. Compare the two and you'll notice it is relatively huge.

Ron, that was no troll - changing a daily visited website for every member with no option save what a select few indoctrinated people decided = gestapo.
Why not keep the old style as an option for those that don't want the revised unimproved version?
Why push it down our throats?

It's simply impractical for me to contact 14,000 registered users and ask, Oliver Twist style, "please, kind sir, may I have your permission to change the forum style?". That being said, the feedback that I received was invaluable, and I think that the style would not be as good had I not received it. Feedback in this thread has been largely positive, so I guess I got it right, although I do realise that I cannot please anyone (particularly those with personal vendettas against me, but that's a whole different story).

This is actually not too different from how the real world works - technical decisions on website issues always rest with those responsible for maintaining them, and not those responsible for using them. If you don't like this, you are welcome to find a community more aligned with your idea of how a site should be maintained - but if you do this, my advice is "good luck, you're going to need it".

I do intend opening up the beta testing process for those who would like to be a part of it in future.

It's quite simple...

Don't make a 1 sentence post.

The template engine isn't that advanced - sorry. (It would be really nice to have though - if enough people are interested, I can log a feature request for future versions, but this would be a major feature that would take a while to be implemented, if at all.)
Mclaren wrote:Emoticons look a bit dated though. aren't there better looking ones available ?
There have been newer ones out in the wild for some time now. I just haven't bothered about them, as no-one's complained about them... well, until now.
You can't just have a second template?

I'll take your word for it, but i have seen it on another forum, hence why I asked.
Thanks

You know what could work. If the post text colour was different. Something that stands out.
Unless, is it possible to change this somewhere in UCP ?

Certain templates have that feature, others don't. This one doesn't.

I realise it was like this before, but is there a reason why links are set to open in the same window? Does anyone else prefer them to open in a new window?

Simple answer (which I have provided before, but will provide again): by not hardcoding the place where the link opens, I give the user that freedom of choice. You can choose to left-click for current tab or right-click for new tab. ;)
