Hey

A friend of mine told me she is making the most of her money buy entering logo designing contests. She said the contests are all local but she doesnt want to link me to thecompetitions. Google only sends me to international contests.

Do any of you know where I can find these local contests?

Are you sure they are online? Perhaps she saw them at an art school or somewhere in town

That would be my guess - she doesn't want the competition

It's more than one contest and I know that it would be best to have minimal competitors.
Here seems to be the largest website with all kinds of contests. http://99designs.com/logo-design/contests

THe problem is there are a lot of competition and their stuff looks really good!!!

guys watch out. these websites use crowdsourcing, and it breaks the industry down, as minimal prices are paid for the product, a lot of designers work on the project and only the winner gets paid. except for that, the job itself doesn't get the attention it needs.
I completely boycott these. do it for the industry.

I entered a few of them and quickly found out a lot of these contests are held by designers themselves. So then when the competition is over they have 100+ designs and they then cancel the contest. Thus they present the logos to the actual clients. So they actually do no work and still receive all the pay.

exactly. 100 designers work on one job, avg 2hours per job. lets take an ave of 250 per hour = R500000 of work is done, and they pay how much?
there are a lot of movement on the net against these spec job BS. it's not good for the industry and misuse designers. Personally i don't think any self respecting designer should take part in these.
design contests should be just that. contests, not actual work that someone pays for.

Some people's profile on that 99design contest site has more than 300 contests entered with 0 wins. I gave up after about 6. lol
