Re: Christchurch Quake
Scary stuff. Poor sods. Anyone checked up on Husky?
Re: Christchurch Quake
Very bad news. Luckily confirmed with some friends I have there that all is okay with them. The past 5 months have been terrible for that city, just as they were repairing the damage from the previous earthquake. Projected death toll so far is between 200 and 300 people and billions of dollars worth of damage...

She lives in Auckland, which is far from there, and as it happens she is currently safe and sound in SA on a visit...Koko_Lion wrote:Scary stuff. Poor sods. Anyone checked up on Husky?
Re: Christchurch Quake
Koko, not to be sensitive or anything, but the "poor sods" comment is not nice.

Re: Christchurch Quake
That's good news! I knew she was in NZ, just couldn't remember where exactly. Glad she's fine.ryanrich wrote:She lives in Auckland, which is far from there, and as it happens she is currently safe and sound in SA on a visit...Koko_Lion wrote:Scary stuff. Poor sods. Anyone checked up on Husky?

Sorry, was more sarcasm. Wasn't aiming to be offensive.Sojourn wrote:Koko, not to be sensitive or anything, but the "poor sods" comment is not nice.

Re: Christchurch Quake
Got completely the wrong idea before I read the link. Was thinking quake on a church map. But suppose both are just as bad.

Re: Christchurch Quake
I have a few friends down that way - all okay.
A friend I went to school with was in the middle of the worst of it, her area was one of the hardest hit, but her house is still standing and they have just got the lights and water back on...
They'll be fine.

Re: Christchurch Quake
My cousin lives far enough away not to have been affected - I am relieved.

Re: Christchurch Quake
Timing for something like this can never be ideal, but it couldn't have been at a worst time ever (right after the quake in Sept. and also in the busiest time of day)... was watching on CNN and the mayor seems to have a very level head on his shoulders... wish we had more people like that in charge all over the world...

Quake (the multi-player game) with a Church map loaded.lancelot wrote: Say what:?:
Lot of big disasters going around the last few years, or not unusually so? Thankfully the quake is in a first world country, as the death toll is always much worse in poorer countries. Hope they bounce back soon.
