Hi

Urgently looking for a DBX extractor or solution.

Got a client who's Outlook Express Inbox reached 2GB, now it wont display the emails. Googled but all I find are shareware ones.

Anyone know a tool, or a way to repair the 2GB problem?

I did stumble on that one. I just can't justify spending that money for a few emails. Unless its VERY important emails I would rather tell them to wave the old Inbox goodbye.

Yea, OE is old and a pain. So is the client. :(

Had a couple of people hound me about OE.

I just say, sorry, I will have to recreate your mailbox. bwhaahaha!

*Delete*
*Start OE*

Easier and also much faster.

I'd personally migrate the client to Thunderbird: firstly, it's a far superior e-mail client, and secondly, it can import mails from Outlook Express. ;)

I shall give that a try. Didn't enjoy Thunderbird awhile back because I recall it being a hassle to backup your mails, address, settings etc when doing a re-install. Maybe they fixed that now.

Anyway, they used to OE so just showed them how to create sub-folders and how to keep things organised. Setup a few rules too to keep the Inbox from flooding. That should do for awhile.

Koko, get MozBackup. It automates the backup and retrieval shlep to a great extent.

OE suck badly and Thunderbird is waaay better, but I still prefer proper Outlook. Probably just used it for too long so I'm used to it.

+1 Better than any free email client.
If they have Office get them to start using Outlook.

There is a Microsoft tool which is free that will help - it was written for PST files, but should work on DBX
All it does is delete the last few emails in the file to bring it back under 2GB so it's usable again.

If not, try http://www.software112.com/products/out ... ction.html - I've never used this myself, but it's free :D

After that you either create a new mail folder, or better yet, move them away from OE...

^^ I was going to suggest the full Outlook version in my earlier post - but it sounds like Koko has a client that will be unwilling to pay for it. ;)
