Let's agree to disagree.... beyond a certain point it all feels the same because it is outside the perceivable limits.

Re: Weather Watch
The Chiel's Column in today's Daily Dispatch discussed rainfall figures. Up to the end of October, we had 933mm of rain, though with the rain we have been having lately [150mm last week], we will probably end up with over 1000mm. We had about 1300mm in 2006.

According to the East London weather officer, the temperature is a cool 19 degrees Celsius, there is a westerly wind wafting at a tame 8km/h and humidity is sitting at 100%.

Re: Weather Watch
the SAWS has become so commercialized i thought they have enough money and now they want more...
it's more about the novel forecaster... the one that didn't study it at school and has very little knowledge about how it works...
as someone who has been taught and can do forecasts, i will only do them for friends and family and for only certain activities cause i know what can happen if i am wrong...
so i can still do forecasting for you crazy lot...
i just can't do it for "severe weather"...
if i get a job as a forecaster at a company or at the SAWS, well then that is a different story all together...
i somewhat agree with what they are trying to do but i think the fine is too hefty and the bill should not me put in place...
and as they said, if a civilian has noticed a major storm with a twist cloud starting to form he should have the right to immediately warn people and the SAWS and not have to wait to follow the correct paper procedures... tornadoes are not easy to forecast and cannot be seen on satellite imagery

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

Re: Weather Watch
@RRF: why would you be visiting anyone in jail?
it's only for severe weather warnings and i don't do those...
i relay what the SAWS sends out regarding those...

Re: Weather Watch
Well from that article it does not specify the difference between relaying their severe weather warnings and actually sending out your own. It would seem that if you want to relay their warning you have to ask permission in writing in any case.

Re: Weather Watch
I think it is nuts. I have seen storms on SAW that the national weather Bureau has not even mentioned. They had better become better at communicating if they want to stop all these other services
Re: Weather Watch
I heard that we were going to have a wet summer, though that has not really happened. Any reason for that?
