Re: The non-PCF Fail/Win Thread
@RRF: Yeah well it's bloody pathetic if you ask me
Stu, how much did they charge for the out of warranty repair, and what was wrong/needed to be replaced?

Re: The non-PCF Fail/Win Thread
A short caused the D-Sub port on the back (poor installation issues), and since that is the only port we used for our purposes we needed to get it repaired. We initially tried replacing only that particular connection, but as it turned out once one thing blows the whole logic board needs to be replaced.SykomantiS wrote:@RRF: Yeah well it's bloody pathetic if you ask me

It was R1.5k for a new logic board. Repaired same day. Although I could only collect it the next day because they called me to say it was ready too close to closing time for me to make it there.

En EPIC FAIL for Cyberdyne
They have a special on DDR3 Ram, so I mailed them the following:
1 They sell (only) MSI motherboards (for Intel)
2 They sell (only) MSI gpu's (nVidia only)
3 They sell a range of X2 / 3 / 4 Athlon and Phenom II AM3 cpu's
4 But no MSI boards for AMD?
Someone please explain this to me

And, their reply:Good day,
I just downloaded the newest pricelist off the Cyberdyne website. However, I see you only have MSI boards for Intel processors listed.
I am interested in an MSI 890FXA-GD70 motherboard for AMD socket AM3.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Now, here's why:Good Day,
Please be advised that CyberDyne no longer supplies any AMD motherboards.
Yours Sincerely,

Re: The non-PCF Fail/Win Thread
Yes, bit of a date Fail there too. I'm guessing it should be the 3rd. But oh well. Some other retailer will be getting my money then.
Re: The non-PCF Fail/Win Thread
I think I have to nominate our local pc store (compu serve) for a fail.
I asked the guy what would a NVIDIA geforce gtx460 1gb ddr5 (I said that whole sequence) cost me? (I knew it would be quite expensive since it it a small town but I did it just to show my father that it is expensive here because he believes in buying here.)
The guy said he would check but it would be around R600-R700 ?!?!?!HUH
The real price came. He told me the next: All the cheap (R600-R700) nvidia geforce gtx 460 1gb ddr5 cards have been sold out. But there are still very expensive nvidia geforce gtx 460 1gb ddr5 card left for R1250.
ps. I gave him ALL the info on the card as specified above.

Guy there sounds like an idiot and customer-conner (???). Where does he get a 460 for 1250 and make a profit?Cyberduke wrote:I think I have to nominate our local pc store (compu serve) for a fail.

Re: The non-PCF Fail/Win Thread
I nominate our HR Manager for a fail. [at the very least]
Reason: He forwarded a hoax email [purportedly from SAPS and the Hawks] warning us not to consume "DEW" bottled water (it was claimed that said drink contains a poisonous chemical that supposedly killed 180 people in Tanazania) to the entire company.
/I did the merciful thing and introduced him to Snopes and the benefits of checking the validity of what one reads.

Well done Birdie. Had to show my mom Snopes too or we would have had a falling out. Now just the religious stuff and superstitious stuff we need to stop.

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

I am going to nominate the women in the Citroen C2 who was in front of me as I left the university for a FAIL. She drove straight into the back of the car that was waiting to turn left , what was she doing that she did not see the car that was right in front of her......or was she just too used to not stopping at the stop street??
