Fiat 500

After watching a number of reviews on youtube and topgear I've decided that I want this to be my first car that I buy independantly.

I haven't seen much on the road and everyone keeps telling me that they are way overpriced. (R140 000 -R200 000).
Have any of you ever driven one or knows someone who has one? What are your impressions of the car.
And what other car would you recommend that is going for R160 000?

Fiesta or Jazz.

The Fiat 500 is overpriced IMO, but the biggest no-no for me is the fact that it is a Fiat.

here is teh easiest way to buy a car... go according to country of origin

German> Swedish> Japanese> America> Korean> The rest of European especially Italian

This only applies for the every man's car. For high end sports cars like Ferrari, Lambo, Aston Martin etc there is a know different scale.

Honda's are even worse! The Jazz is such a dog ugly car!

If you are bent on buying new, for that price the Fiesta is nice. Good looking car, but it's radio design puts me off.

I would much rather spend that money on a good second had car. Focus, Chev Cruze or Mazda 3.

But they are also European, that is a problem.

On,ly an issue if it is either french of italian for passenger vehicles. Sports vehicles as stated earlier is an issue. According to your rational BM, Volvo and Mercedes are also problems as they are European O.o

That only leaves Ford, Nissan, Toyota, Honda and a couple of other makes. :P

Hmm most of which I won't buy even if they were my only choice. I would doom myself to use public transport rather than buy a FORD.

Dude get a second hand Golf 5, Audi A3 or if you really want to get a Merc C-class (you can get amazing ones for 160k second hand). I do like the 500 by the way (but it is a rip-off)

The Fiat 500 is over priced - here.

South Africa missed the boat on car prices again.

Overprice it so you can get more money off less sales rather than making a profit on volumes

Why not buy a 2nd hand Fiat 500? I think they are sexy little cars with tons of charisma and Fiat isn't as bad as it was. They do make more reliable cars now.

I would look at a Civic hatch or Focus or DS3 all 2nd hand or demo.

Yea a civic is a good car (Honda's are bullet proof) and the focus is good as well......what about an Opal Astra?

Look heres the thing it's hard to buy a bad car nowadays. A good average score on TopGear is 12/20 but why settle for an average car? You can get something great for the same price as a 12/20 car.

Check this
Or Zeis
Fiesta
500

As far as I could care TopGear is the business when it comes to car reviews because it's not soft like an inflight mag on cars and often tells you it's a crock if it really is.
