Re: Anger/stress management
I think if your immediate response to an insult is violence then you may have some issues.
But a physical attack, or the imminent threat of one is more than enough grounds for self defence IMO.
Someone "saying something derogatory" to your wife is not grounds for a life-threatening beat-down. One snot-klap will suffice
Finding an intruder in your home... well... I'll look the other way on that one as well, just don't ask me for help getting rid of the body
In short, things that would cause most people to get aggro are not what I'm talking about.

This is the point I'm trying to make. That one snot klap will turn into a fully fledged assault. I lose it situations like that. Especially if the guy retaliates. Then I'm thinking WTF and beat some more.jamin_za wrote:I think if your immediate response to an insult is violence then you may have some issues.

Losing it is what I not doing again.

Re: Anger/stress management
The snot-klap bit was a joke, hence I suffixes it with a winking smiley.
Although 99% of guys would respond that way (myself included possibly, depending on the insult), it's not the best way of handling that situation as it almost always ends in a brawl.
In my experience guys who go around insulting other guys partners are looking for a fight, and usually have a few friends in reserve in case things don't go their way. It's not worth it. Your wife will understand - hell, she probably doesn't want you to cause a scene over it anyway.

Re: Anger/stress management
Is it okay for me to introduce my fist to my boss's son's face. The little asshat has a ****** little personality and he speaks to me as if I'm one of his peers when I'm 11 years his senior.

Yes. Ambush him in the alley after work. Outside work premises and teach him a lesson.Hman wrote:Is it okay for me to introduce my fist to my boss's son's face. The little asshat has a ****** little personality and he speaks to me as if I'm one of his peers when I'm 11 years his senior.
Trust me, he will never disrespect you again.

I'm thinking of giving him a love tap on the knee with a baton.

Such violence boys!
It takes much hard work and years of practice ti control anger and violence like that. As Ice said, if you know you have the propensity for violence, stay away from any situation that can cause a possible outbreak, even if others (and you...) will think you are a coward. Rather be thought a coward than be a murderer.
Siemens.... take it from an old pro.... seek professional help to get that situation diffused. Soon. Please?

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

Re: Anger/stress management
Do what I do.... if you lose your temper, and trust me I am a very very calm person until I lose it, you will see me disappear for a couple of minutes until I have cool head again. I had to learn how to just disappear without taking my temper out directly on people.... Being an Aries of German descent and all.... Damn stereotypes... Guess there is truth to them... Any case back to the topic: I used to get violent to the point where I put someone in the hospital and from there on I just decided to disappear when angered.

there are but depends what type of rage you talking about, these are mainly meant for psychos the type of people that seem rabid. Drug is called Clopixol® (zuclopenthixol is the generic name) if you wanna gain some random knowledge.jamin_za wrote:I'm not sure if there are pills for rage alone IE if your rage is not part of a larger psychological problem, will meds help?
Maybe RiaX can answer that?
You get things for anxiety and i suppose it could be used for rage, never treated any "normal people" rage. As for me i just rage like a psychotic thing, that way the doctors, matrons, sisters FEAR meh

lol i worked in a psych hospital before not nice place to work. The patients' reality is so warped it begins you warp your own because you interact with them. Who said psychosis cant be contagious. Every psychiatrist that worked there for 30 odd years all committed suicide or went mental themselvesCapNemo wrote:Until they put you in the padded room

I work off a lot of steam with boxing. Muay Thai. I feel amazing afterwards. I get fit, strong and destressed.
