Hmmm this is more like Firefox 4.1. I like the App Tab's feature though, have pinned Gmail and Facebook which is pretty useful.

meh... that is available since firefox 4... just saying been doing it for like 3 months.... about as long as firefox 4 is out

what's the difference between 4, 5 and now 6?
updating to 4 was a big step.... but i haven't really seen the difference between 4 and 5...

Mozilla has gone for a Chrome-like release schedule. More frequent releases, fewer differences between versions.

And in fact, during my morning "look for interesting stuff to post on PCF" session, I found an article indicating that they want to remove version numbers from the user-facing parts of Firefox entirely...

Mozilla, though, wants to make sure that version numbers are buried deep with its browser where only developers, enthusiasts, and sniffing code can call them up. Over on Bugzilla, the always outspoken Asa Dotzler has posted Bug 678775 to get the ball rolling. As Dotzler states, it’s just another step in a process that is already “well under way.”

Did some1 update to FF 6 yet??

I have 6. Haven't had any issues, but it looks and feels EXACTLY the same.

It asked me if I wanted to upgrade today - I said it should ask later

i'm on 6. according to them firefox 6 is faster than firefox 5.. i am still not sure if its true as i don't see any difference.

oh well. i have added more and more disable add on compatibility checker codes to my about:config in the last 3 major updates than i have ever added before. guess some addon makers just can't be bothered to keep up.

There must be another reason they brought it out - the message I get now is that it is strongly recommended that I make the upgrade as soon as possible.

Right. Lets see if someone can help me with this problem.

I want to use FF (as a test to replace IE) for my local sites with proper browsing every now and then. So I have set my proxy settings manually and when I try to browse to one of the local sites I get the error about a URL "does not exist". If I set the proxy settings to off the local sites work like a charm. If I set the proxy settings to System Settings the local sites work fine. Its only when I manually add the proxy settings and exceptions that this error comes up.

Any ideas?

you have static routes or lmhosts entries to these sites that don't work when the proxy tries to resolve them

Not that I am aware of. Opera and IE work fine no matter how I configure them, its just FF...
