and what did you manage? have you reached 4ghz yet.....

i got up to 3.8GHz last night, but i stopped as i wasnt sure about the voltages (not sure what the safe limit is for the i7).

i have seen people go to and beyond 4GHz, but i cant see what their settings are.

i saw a post briefly where it went ip to 1,3V, and mine is now on 1.25V

my i7 950 is at 1.3v... your safe max voltage as stated by intel is 1.375v you still have loads of room... people obviously go above this voltage provided thier temps are in check.... make a thread in the oc section and post clocks voltages and temps.... and we can give you some advice and you can share your progress with us....also post your vantage results.... vanatge does much more justice to cpu overclocking...

adding to that, the temps even at 3.8Ghz is remarkably low (max was 48C), so it seems it can do a lot more....thanks to the H70

thanks jelly, i am going to take it to 1.3V tonight and take it to 4Ghz and see what happens.

48C under what stress test? and ya bro you will easliy achieve 4ghz!

i was thinking the same thing. on a different note, why is core # 0 always hotter than the rest of the other cores? :?:

no clue... but mines the same not sure why that is, iv read on a few forums that it could be that the heat is being unevenly dispersed, could be the heatsync not seated properly, or uneven thermal compound but i doubt that somehow.... .... are u using prime95 to stress?

quite annoying though...

havent used prime95 yet, i just downloaded it now, i have been using the bencging tools that are part of Everest ultimate.

will give this prime 95 a thorough workout tonight.

ah that explains the low temps... be ready to have your cpu go to 65+ degrees.... and you will find out how stable your cpu is when u run prime... prime is a killer

he he he, looking forward to a good roasting.

on that note, what other benchmarking tools can you recommend (other than 3Dmark that is...)

and some good news, it has been up and running @ 4.2GHz for four days now, without any glitches of any kind, and benchmarks returned some interesting temps, peaking at 68C, but normally between 48C and 55C, with a minimum of 40C

Well I am playing with the Gigabyte G1.Assassin.

Core i7-975 @4.44GHz, now to play with our new Gainward GTX580 (sponsored by Evetech) and see how far it can be pushed.

I will post a score today and there will be a prize for anyone who can beat that score using air cooling only. I want to see pictures of the setup.

Edit: preliminary score is X2300
