listen...... if had to read a sms or mxit from todays youth u will have NO cooking clue as to what that person has said.... i could write that way but i don't and the fact that i leave out an "e" or other letter here and there doesn't matter because the meaning of the word is sill there, just the unnecessary letters have been chopped off..... its how some people spell by real name by omitting the "e"s !!!!!

Sms-speak seriously degrades the first impressions people have of you. On many forums I frequent it's against the rules to even use chat or 1337 speak.

does it look like i give a dam!!!! did the fact that i leave out a few letters sometimes degrade your first impression of me???? now that you have met me????? i work with writing articles and seminars everyday... i know how to write and get good marks for it.... even though i do work with numbers... i don't do it in the way that you do, using numbers and letters to make sense...

so, please, get off my back and let me be....

Jy mag nie 'n spasie (of ander karakter) gebruik om letters binne 'n vloekwoord te vervang nie.

don't you mean "tekkies"... i always imagined a "tak" was a stick or branch, depending on context :P

on a more serious note, i refuse to read intentionally bad language in much the same way as i refuse to read 100 word posts sans paragraphs... :/

i don't intentionally write in a bad language.... and it is mostly in the afrikaans thread that i do it.... unintentionally!!!

Contrary to popular belief - I do find funny text harder to read as my imagination gets involved. Correctly spelt words are so much easier to understand.

Katryn, do you believe in democracy? Because it would appear you are part of the minority. :P

Then I must be the exception - that took much longer to read than it would if you had taken the time to put in the missing letters.

urban..... i do not type like that.... but i did understand what you wrote... as well as what wizard wrote...
sometimes when i am typing in afrikaans leave a letter off at the end of a word... not in the middle...
but any way... everyone does it now and then but i get hammered!!!

Maybe you should drink less if you get hammered?

I'm just kidding Kat....you can type any way you....like. This is...after....all the inter....nets.

By the way - that post, minus the join the dots game you threw in, was far more eloquent and easy to read.

Also, don't mind me, your mom made me this way

Poor Katryn. :( I have seen much worse. Don’t sweat these bullies. Have a muffin!

On a side note, I am no longer used to reading Afrikaans. Reading long passages (like some posts in this thread) becomes tedious and slow quickly. How weird. I speak mostly Afrikaans in my daily life and usually fumble around with a word at some point whenever I get involved in a lengthy discussion with an English speaking person. On forums the opposite is true. English comes naturally and Afrikaans becomes a chore. I am slowly being turned into a salted rooinek!
