Did you guys see that Bees Roux (Blue Bulls, formerly Griquas) is facing murder charges after beating to death a metro cop in Hatfield... Yoh. Heavy stuff...

Re: The Rugby Thread (All Leagues and Tournaments)

So my poison (CC rugby) is drawing to a close for 2010.

Current log with one game remaining.

Sharks---------52
WP------------44
Cheetahs------42 (ahead on points diff)
BBulls----------42
---------------------------
Lions-----------37
Griquas---------35

Last fixtures:

Leopards v Cheetahs - Free 5 points.
Lions v Pumas - Free 5 points, but a lil' too late for the poor Lions. Have to commend the new coach on reviving the team.
Griquas v Blue Bulls - Should go the BB's way (Boks are back!), but the Kimberley boys have been known to cause havoc at home. Personally I hope they humiliate the Bulls.
Western Province v Sharks - Could go either way, I am hoping on the Sharks. A good win for the Durbs boys will give us a home semi !! (Boks are back!)

What if's:
If the Bulls loose their game v the Griq's without any bonus points and the Lions take 5 win points, as well as rake in the points diff margin to overtake the bulls in that stat (currently on 50), they can get into the semi's, not likely but one can hope. (Lets be honest, it won't happen, period.)

The same scenario is possible for the Cheetahs, but their points difference vs the Lions is over 90, which is pointless as we will not loose vs the Leopards. (Another useless what-if!)

If the WP loose their game (quite a possibility) and the Cheetha's win theirs (very likely), we will be having a home semi. (I real fear for the capies....Sorry Lance !!)

My predictions:

The log after the last games will look like this:

1Sharks---------57(+5 for their win)
2Cheetahs------47(+5 for their win)
3WP------------46(+2 for loosing with 7 or less than 7 and getting 4 tries)
4BBulls----------46(+4 for their win) (below the WP due to points diff)

Semi's 1vs4 and 2vs3:
Durban vs Pretoria, Pretoria to win it. (Boks are back!)
Cape Town vs Bloemfontein, Bloemfontein to win it.

Finals:
Bloemfontein vs Pretoria, Bloemfontein to take it home!

I still maintain that the Cheetahs is Western Province's achilles heel when it comes to knockout stages of the Currie Cup. Hopefully I will be proved wrong this time round.

Seriously hope the Cheetahs kick WP backside, but I think Province will win, as well as the Bulls. Suits me fine actually because I might go watch the final at Newlands in that case...

I see you are (again) on the brink considering to leave hattrick.
Try and cultivate a national player from the age of 17... I'm trying that now.
Have no idea how successful it will be.

With center Fourie injured, I thought we would have a lil easier way of it. No such luck with their depth... All they are doing now is slot Jean back to center, get full back Gio Aplon to wing and Janjes off the bench to full back.

Western Province team:
15. Conrad Jantjes, 14. Gio Aplon, 13. Juan de Jongh, 12. Jean de Villiers, 11. Bryan Habana, 10. Willem de Waal, 9. Ricky Januarie, 8. Duane Vermeulen, 7. Francois Louw, 6. Schalk Burger (Captain), 5. Anton van Zyl, 4. Adriaan Fondse, 3. Brok Harris, 2. Deon Fourie, 1. JD Moller
Reserves:
16. Hanyani Shimange, 17. JC Kritzinger, 18. De Kock Steenkamp, 19. Pieter Louw, 20. Dewaldt Duvenage, 21. Lionel Cronje, 22. Paul Bosch

FS Cheetah team:
15. Hennie Daniller, 14. Philip Snyman, 13. Robert Ebersohn, 12. Meyer Bosman, 11. Corné Uys, 10. Louis Strydom, 9. Tewis de Bruyn, 8. Ashley Johnson, 7. Juan Smith (Captain), 6. Hendro Scholtz, 5. Waltie Vermeulen, 4. Francois (FS) Uys, 3. Willem Petrus (WP) Nel, 2. Adriaan Strauss, 1. Coenie Oosthuizen
Reserves:
16. Skipper Badenhorst, 17. CJ van der Linde, 18. Izak van der Westhuizen, 19. Kabamba Floors, 20. Tertius Carse, 21. Sias Ebersohn, 22. Riaan Smit

If Daniller has a good day he can be very dangerous, and of course I am a big fan of Juan. Adriaan Straus we will negate early.

On a side note, I just want to congratulate the WP and Blue Bulls on both winning the CCup already... the way you see them going on in the media and how "cockky" their supporters are you'd think the final weekend is done already and it is in the bag.

I think it's a pretty bad for WP to have lost Jaque Fourie for this semi, but still they got a good pack, especially in the back line

It's not such a loss for them considering the guys as setup for this coming Saturday actually played together in those positions for at least 4 games, I think.
