Some people need a serious amount of time to plan weddings. Not quite sure why. Our engagement lasted four months, and plans were finished with plenty of time to spare.DAE_JA_VOO wrote: Holy moley. I could never wait that long. I want to be married within 6 months of my engagement, max.

Ooh Ooh... Wedding on the moons of Endor followed by a honeymoon on Korriban
Yeah the current prices on Interstellar travel isn't quite attractive. Why not simply get yourself a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and a towel. Would work out cheaper methinks.

Re: I'm engaged!
Yeah I have to wait a year . Reason for the wait is because we are allowing for her Canadian family to organize holidays and the sort. As far as I see it we have been dating for 8 years so a extra year wont do any harm . Oh and +1 to what Only1 said about it being expensive...Stuart wrote:Some people need a serious amount of time to plan weddings. Not quite sure why. My dear you have no idea how terrifying it is to put everything on the line by asking that one question. Luckily for me I knew the answer beforehand but it still made the whole experience very nerve racking...Tribble wrote:Good luck and congratulations Jedi Sir.

Re: I'm engaged!
It doesn't have to be an event. Mine was very simple as we were poor as church mice (no offence to the resident mouse). We had chosen the ring together so I knew it was coming, I just had no idea when. He was living in a bachelor pad in Hillbrow at the time. I went to visit him, he told me to stand on the bed (yes he is very tall and I am very short). He then looked me in the eye and proposed. It was so sweet and romantic. I said yes of course. We waited 3 months and combined the engagement party with my 21st.
You don't need to spend a fortune - the ring doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. It is just a symbol. I know you feel you must - but chat to your lady, if you are both looking forward to being married she will appreciate being part of the whole process. You might find that she doesn't want all your money to be spent on a ring.
