Kind? Some series do not deserve kindness. But thank you for starting the thread
Re: The Movie and Series Thread...
LOL! True story! Tis a pleasure...September must get here, can't wait to watch the next season of Dexter. Was doing some reading the other day and was quite surprised to find how different the books are to the Series...

Re: The Movie and Series Thread...
Um - so don't come here. You can just pretend that you don't see this thread as we discuss the latest series.
Anyone watching Caprica? I must admit that I am really enjoying it.

If I didn't come here I wouldn't be doing my job.
Tell you what: Let's keep this as the series thread, and KB's can be used for all things movie related. K?

Re: The Series Thread
Perfect.
Molean - Caprica is the follow up prequel to Battlestar Galactica. About the creation and rise of the Cylons. It is also about the Adama family and their history/heritage. You will like it - there are pretty young things in it.

Has anyone who has watched The Mentalist also watched Psych? If so, verdict?
My wife has been watching Psych, and I've seen the odd episode here and there. Seems quite entertaining, but as I understand it it's the same basic concept as The Mentalist. Psych seems very comedic though, so I'm wondering how it compares to The Mentalist (which I haven't seen yet).

I am watching House, Fringe... wait i can't remember them all now. ah..
Re: The Series Thread
Have any of you guys seen both the old and the new series of V? If so, how do they compare?
I like both The Mentalist and Psych. Psych does get on my nerves a bit sometimes though, especially when he starts faking some kind of mystical episode. The Mentalist has more character depth to me and is a bit more of a grown-up show.Has anyone who has watched The Mentalist also watched Psych? If so, verdict?

Re: The Series Thread
I watched a few episodes of Psych, after which I couldn't stand it. Ive never seen so many annoying characters in one series. The comedy is meh. The only funny parts are the outtakes at the end.
Id like to get my hands on the UK version of The Office. I watched it long ago, back when I still have a maturing sense of humor. I thought it was lame. I watch The Ricky Gervais show now and its hysterical.
Ive not seen anyone talk about Flight of the Conchords. I strongly recommend it. Its tantasticly funny!!!!

Re: The Series Thread
I have not seen Psych but I love the Mentalist. I find Patrick Jane very funny and entertaining - in a non-assuming way.Stuart wrote:Has anyone who has watched The Mentalist also watched Psych? If so, verdict?

I have - I am still a fan of the old series but am enjoying the new one too. They have kept the basic idea but they have changed it quite a lot. We are now rewatching the original.KALSTER wrote:Have any of you guys seen both the old and the new series of V? If so, how do they compare?
Re: The Series Thread
Flight of the Concords is awesome! I love the music montages, or the way they tackle certain situations in song.
Psych Annoyed me at first, but after watching a whole season, has grown on me. I enjoy the main characters randomness as he sometimes just spews forth such random statements out of nowhere that mean absolutely nothing, but yea might not be for everyone comedy wise. Only watched one epi of The Mentalist and as KALSTER has put it, it's basically the grown up version of psych.
Tribble - Ok kewl. Sadly was never into Battlestar, but I have friends that are and will be very happy of the prequel.

Re: The Series Thread
I liked that Battlestar was darker than the earlier version. Took a while to get used to the fact that Starbuck was female - but as they say - you can get used to anything.
Re: The Series Thread
I always compare Battlestar and Star Trek, and then Star Trek almost invariably wins.
Do any of you guys remember a Sci-Fi series named Farscape? That was a pretty cool show.
Fringe is just too improbable for me. I know the same can be said for Star Trek etc, but Fringe just doesn't make me want to abandon common sense physics and evolution principles in the same way. Maybe it is because I didn't grow up watching it..

Reruns or a new show?
Re: The Series Thread
Well, I don't really remember much of it from when I was a kid, but I'm guessing reruns. Either that or Claire and Uncle Bill have REALLY aged well.ryanrich wrote:Stuart wrote:Pumpkin Patch is back on SABC3 on Thursday mornings at 7:00 AM.

Re: The Series Thread
As a matter of useless trivia for the end of the day, did you know that the original Woofles was played by the manager from that irritating All Gold ad?

You have just spoilt Woofles. How could you destroy my memories like that!
