Has anyone seen Mozambicans drift ?

Post by DeeVeeDee »

This past easter weekend i watched a dodgy organized drift show held by some Portuguese dudes in komati poort.

Its was crazy, they only used Supra's and Skyline GTR33's/GTS's 2.5L 16Valve

There were 3 guys each in their own skyline that could drift in a circle (Nose to nose)

They were so ruthless! all of them pops tyres with in about 5-10 Mins and the show was on for the whole day.
If they happen to hit a pile i tyres they just rip off the bumpers and carry on.

Where do they get a hold of these cars?, cus ive been over the border once and saw plenty supras driving around.

I took some video clips, on my friend's GF camera.
Will try to post them here, if i can still get my hands on those clips.

Cars are dirt cheap out side of SA.
Our government taxes the crap out of our cars... it's so bad our locally made cars sell cheaper overseas than they do here.

I know a guy from Swaziland who has a R32 and paid about R30K for it there....

But he has to take it back over the border all the time because it can only be in SA for X amount of time (not sure the length) or else they impound it.

To register it in SA he would have to pay import duties which are more than what he paid for the car when he bought it - quite silly actually!

I think this is the same with cars from Moze.
I might be mistaking but its somewhere in the line of 3 to 6 months.
And after a few years you may register it in SA with a SA plate.

those cars are fairly reasonable priced in Maputo
