So whose going? Im finding it a lot easier to get tickets in this phase. Applied on Friday (online) and got notification of success today. Phase 3 was a different story, but I was successful there none-the-less. Well partially cos I was downgraded. But anyway, I cant wait. :D

DSTV...tyvm.
As much as I'd love to go, the prospect of having my head blown off by some fanatic vuvuzela carrier sitting behind me, or in my general vicinity - is just too discouraging.

+1

It irritates me enough watching international football on TV and hearing those vuvuzelas going all match. I think I might be tempted toward some actual violence if I was in the stadium.

Did you even watch any of the Confederations Cup? Can you imagine what it would be like sitting in the stadium? It gives me a headache just thinking of it.

We have had a team build exercise at the office, soccer themed where these vuvu's were handed out.
I left early. The headache came with me.

At the recent S14 game Lions vs Stormers some poor non-thinking guy was merily blowing away (for the 10th+ time even with people complaining around him) when his "instrument" was accosted and flung over the railing.
We all cheered

I can't believe there is so much apathy and animosity towards this event.

Its the world cup people, and its in your country, and you complain because of some trumpets...it just does NOT compute...

To be perfectly fair, they're highly irritating trumpets.

and you complain because of some trumpets
those trumpets are capable of causing permanent hearing damage - so subjecting yourself to the noise they make is even more foolhardy than ignoring that noise

as for wearing earplugs - its uncomfortable to my ears - i will probably give it a miss to go and watch live if im forced to wear earplugs

"barbaric".... quite a strong term

be that as it may, there may be matches where there may not be vuvuzelas...

Agreed. It certainly is unpalatable to my ears, however.

As for the tickets, theres only 1 game available in JHB. To view the available games, go to http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisati ... index.html and click Start Your Application. R140 to see the World Cup...I mean come on.

As for the the vuvuzela's, its part of the atmosphere. I dont mind it, but ima buy ear plugs just in case. Soccer City may be crazy.
