The R300K question

Hey Folks
Trying to help amate out, and frankly am not too clued up myself so can't oofer to much advice!

He's looking for a car for his aging BM for around max R300K on installment. Can be new or second hand, max milage 10,000KM. He's not sure about his business's strength, all going well now, but he does not want to have to pay in should he have to sell the car after a few months - hense something with really good resale value (and why I adviced him that second hand might be better than new). Am I right?

Since resale is a big issue, I'm guessing the french cars are immediately out of the picture...

Can't be anything too fancy as he needs to cart the kids to school on the way to work...and does not want to pay high insurance costs anyway, so no two seater racers! He find a corolla a tad boring, but is otherwise not fussy.

There was a depreciation table somewhere on the net...now to find it...

Ford Focus turbo Diesel 2nd hand @ R200K
Honda VFR800 @R100K new (or a fireblade 1000cc 2nd hand)

Thats what I would get with R300K.

Ehehe, yeah, don't think he'd be overly popular with his wife if he got the firebird....
Strange, don't seem to be any C classes on carfind for those search requirements, mainly a bunch of Beamer 320d and 320is, 1.8T Audis, Honda Accords, Golf and Jetta, Mazda 3 and 6 and a slew of Focus's and Corolla's. Maybe Merc do not use carfind to advertise...

Tried AutoTrader?

Trouble is the autotrader search function sucks, and their year function is backwards. Takes about 10 attempts to get anything useful out of it as compared to carfind which works first time. Also can't search for all makes, have to select a make first.

Can't get even an entry level 3 series, C class or A4 for under R300K, under 10,000km second hand. stupidly expensive.

Honda Accord or even a Lexus comes to mind.

The Accord is easily in the spec and luxury group that the A4, Cxxx and 3xx's are.

Exceptional cars.

Yeah, have recommended an Accord, but he he seems to think the interior is far to dark, and it seems they don't do much by way of interior options.
@ RiaX - sorry, yeah, I see there are a couple available just under the R300K mark - all without any options as you say hehe.

We have a Lexus IS 250 in the shop. It am delishus, though the interior is black everywhere, but surely you get a light interior option.
