hey guys
okay well im building a laptop (or should i say portable pc like a laptop) out of normal desktop components (mobo gpu ram etc )

ive decided on making it full out clear plexi and will also be casting some clear resin keys for the keyboard. also thinking of alot of uv reactive stuff

the specs will be something like this
mobo: micro atx g31 gigabyte board (will post the model and stuffs later)
cpu: either an e5200 or e5300
gpu: 9600gt 512
ram: 2gb ddr800
psu: about 500w or 480w
hdd:either wd 250gb (its 2.5cm high) or seagte 160gb (thinner 2cm)

well prime and w1k have helped me out with the cpu cooler which will probably be a tt(yes i know) 1u but i will change the fan out for a 80 or 60mm uv fan (will be more silent and have more cfm)

one problem i have is fitting a psu into the case which will be more or less 30 X 35 X 5cm (L x W x H)

i will get a sketchup here just now

Look at some of the u1 and sff psu's. They are rather compact.

can i ask why you are not get a zotac itx board with an ion chipset Or a via nano with pci-express? Oh and a right angle, pciexpress adaptor will make your setup more compact-will find you a link.

You shouldn't build the PSU into the case. Laptops don't have a PSU inside them, it's outside ;) So get yourself a small PSU, but make it external :) This will cut down on size and construction restrictions.

Also, there's no way this will be "laptop small", any small platform is still much bigger than a notebook. It has the potential to be a tiny PC though :D

i thought would just be easier to have the psu built into it otherwise i would have to be redoing all the connections and a psu would look a bit funny outside of the case. might be the only option

it will be like a fairly large laptop that is a few cm thick but will be awesome me thinks
