Between R1 and R2 000 000.Roughly.

Each player is paid individually depending on their contract.
There is a set monthly salary and then match fees for those with long term contacts. These players would get a Springbok contract salary as well as their home union salary.
Some contracts do not include a set salary, they only get match fees. The salary is covered by their union (ie Blue Bulls or the Sharks, if that is their home.)
They also get more for a win.

There are no set amounts as it fluctuates between players.

Between 5 and 20k? less if bought at the butcher...

Yeah, seeing someone "owning" something expensive doesn't mean a thing. Let him show you how it's paid off, THEN you know he's got money.

The reason being there is probably 50 billion trillion gazillion times more money in soccer. Rugby is a huge sport, but it is a bird dropping in the ocean compared with 'the beautiful game'.

I dont think soccer players earn more than rugby players in SA.

In SA there is way more money in rugby than any other sport.

South African soccer players have to go overseas to earn good money. Thats also why our overseas players dont like playing for Bafana Bafana often and try to miss as many international call-ups as possible - although not during the Wold Cup runup

Read in the Financial Times today that each South African soccer player earns R2M, yes, that's 2 MILLION rands per year. About $264K. Absolutely unbelievable. They are nowhere near international standards, never performs or do much of anything to deserve such extravagant salaries. Cut their pay and make them work for it, maybe they'll have a reason to want to improve. South African rugby on the other hand is on fire, top of the line players, performs well on national and international level and the players actually work for their salaries/contracts. They are paid based on performance, which is how it should be. I can't get a clear number on what they earn as it's all individual based but I sure hope it's a hell of a lot more than the excuse for a soccer team.
