i would offer 2 scenarios to illustrate why...

i) You're high on dutch courage in the local chatting up your victim for the evening and your visual cortex is presenting you with health and progress bars on how you're doing...
ii) Your morning physical assessment is interrupted halfway through detailing a suspicious lump in your gonads by a garish advert urging you to get some life insurance...

now, our social lives are already struggling to contend with sms-freaks who cannot stop fondling their favourite piece of electronic stupidity for any period longer than 5 seconds... i cannot imagine that this sort of tech will become anything other than yet another attack vector for the delivery of popular-culture-derived marketing of the sort which gives the likes of paris hilton a public voice...

i shudder to imagine this being hooked into the likes of twitter...

on the other hand, i can imagine this technology being incredibly useful in certain industries, (crime scenes, aircraft maintenance, etc...)

+1 on that. Could be very usefull in spotting hair line fractures on the hull of a plane. Or spotting that missing piece of DNA. Doesn't the move Gattaca like in seriously come to mind

Dude , if i can walk into zaps pick up a game i have not heard of and instantly get reviews on it ... or compare pricing on an item im holding . I'll be sold.

I think this tech would be awesome in places like the US and UK... where they have a decent infrastructure... but when I think of something like this coming here I can't help but shudder...

Imagine... constantly having to wait while Telkom techies do something somewhere due to theft of cables or something... (cause you know hellkom will want a piece of this action).... followed by a constant stream of politically motivated garbage popping in front of your eyes as you are trying to aim at the shooting range....

Depends on the political garbage ... if its malema popping up , i may just fire a little more acurately .

Actually, the cellular networks in SA are way more advanced than the ones in the states, which I am assuming this will run on.

I was under the impression that it would be running on some kind of WiFi delivery system... If runs on cellular tech, then I wouldn't wanna be stuck with the Cell C package... hehehe...
