Requesting help from community

Post by shinji-aoi »

I request help from the Anime community!

I keep Naruto and Bleach up to date thanks to the ADSL at work, but some series have fallen far behind.
I'm also looking for a couple of series that are a little difficult to download.

The List:
- One Piece from ep 200 to current {will make 100% sure}
- Dragonball series
- Dragonball Z
- Dragonball GT
- Neon Genesis Evangelion DVD Rip

The list will grow a bit as I go through what I would like.

--- Ofcourse I do not expect people to send me a HDD or a bunch of DVD's for nothing!
We can trade or I will pay for the effort invested (ofcourse this means postage too!)

Please PM me.
[BTW if the moderators have a problem with this thread, or a thread like this exists please let me know]

so you still willing to download if you can get links for those files?

if you are, will you download from MegaUpload or Rapidshare?

Doubt it...
I think bandwidth might be a problem...

If I am correct, what if you could use local bandwidth? Also english dubs for the DB series?

I have a uncapped internet account but the shows you requested arent very high on my interest list I do however have the NGE remastered DVD rips I made. And I can get all of the One Piece in HD quality and all of the movies. If people actually stopped being anti social and go to LAN's like Mayhem they will easily find the stuff they are looking for. And I do keep a up-to-date list: http://www.box.net/shared/b2an5hvkt3 With a lot of older shows on it.

I goto LANs, just not Mayhem... I don't always have time/money to go either...
School is keeping me busy 24/7 :(

With the little free time I have I try and watch anime/help out the local anime/manga community a bit :)

Hi, thanks for all the replies!

Thanks larch, I know the LANs are the perfect place to go, just that I don't have HDD space for all the stuff there yet (still saving for a proper gaming rig with enough space).
I'd seriously consider going to Mayhem so will give that a try. Do they allow people to leech only?

As for the bandwidth issue - I only have HSDPA at home with about 1Gb each month. The ADSL at work is very limited so no major downloads...

I was hoping to meet someone or at least trade disks, but the LAN idea (especially when taking some friends) might be cool.

Would be your best bet in this case.

If I were still in SA I am sure I could have hooked you up with stuff since I was also in the PTA area.

Shot! Thanks for the gesture Off-The-Chart!

Will either do the LAN thing or wait for NeoTel to start their service in my area (should be around July...).

Am still a couple of episodes away from where my eps end in One Piece before I'll start to panic.

Still wondering - are you allowed to only leech (aka do file sharing only) at LANs?

obviously not cause then LAN's would either be in trouble, or there just won't be as many.

LAN's are mainly aimed at doing gaming but obviously you will get people that leech/seed.

you will notice that a lot of people who share stuff, get their stuff from other LAN's.

Nope you will pay normal entry fee. You might as well go and relax, play a couple of games, drink some coffee and prepare for an early/late morning departure.

I beg to differ... How much will it cost to fill up your hdd with stuff at a LAN? And compare it to what it would cost downloading it from the net. :D

I don't think you are following Fanatic. He wants to go to a lan to only leech. He thinks that they will charge him less if he goes to the lan only to leech and not to play games.

I did follow... You asked why would one do that, and I answered that question. It is cheaper paying an entrance fee than leeching from the net. not everyone has a 4MB line and a big cap :P

LAN has fees, I know that, but some LANs have leech times, if one doesn't adhere to that. You get kicked out.

Ok... Wait, firstly...

If you goto a LAN, try go to one where they have a decent network (It's Gigabit, better, or screw them).
Not all LAN's allow you to leech throughout the LAN. Try go to a LAN where they host their own DC server, DC makes getting things a lot easier. Possibly quicker as well as you can get it from multiple peers like with torrents.

The BitFarm LAN is awesome IMO, also in PTA... Although not too many people with anime go there. Yet at least.
It is also a gaming LAN, has a very nice balance... BIG SHARES and LOADS OF GAMING... Compensates for both people, or people who love doing both ;) :D

I have not been to a Mayhem LAN, from what I have heard, not my type of LAN.
Liberty LAN is pretty decent, well, when I last went there which was a while ago. I heard they now have a Fibre backbone and the rest is Gigabit so they have a kick bottom network (now why dont rAge follow them? Retards) and they have quite a lot of people who go there and there is a fair amount of anime last time I was there.

No LAN that I know of has a cheaper entrance fee if you only leech.
They can't really ensure that you only leech AFAIK.

lol, Shinji didn't mention anything about him thinking it would be cheaper or not.

I think he asked cause maybe he really thinks one can only do leeching at a LAN, as opposed to something else like gaming. :?

Whatever. my point is that if he goes to a lan only to leech he might as well play a couple of games too. It is kinda pointless waiting for a dl to finish while sitting around on your thumbs.

I walk around, talk to people, see what others are doing and so on :P

He can start watching some stuff as well. But yeh, anyways... Up to him :)

I think he wanted to know if some LANs will allow you to only leech or if there are certain times put aside for leeching perhaps?
If so, some LAN do do that.

Thanks PsyCLown and Off-The-Chart!

Yep - only wondered if LANs allow you to leech only. Didn't expect to pay less, just wondered considering I would take the seat off someone that would otherwise have played CS or whatever.
I've heard of some LANs having times when leeching is allowed when there's a break from gaming.

As for the gaming part - that's something I do at home. I'm a very very very bad loser and tend to get very aggro if I mess up or lose. Thus I'm not a very social gamer.

Anyway big thanks to PsyCLown for the info, it helped a lot.
