Granma's Boy's Corner

Post by KillerByte »

In light of Drakonis' "Tales from the (PCF) crypt" thread and his request that I remain as far away from it as possible I have found a little corner of my own to have some fun.

Drakonis (aka Brett and from henceforth referred to as "Brett") has cornered the market on absolutely nothing tangible so it seems that I can layout my thing as I please.

In all honesty, if you haven't read Brett's Team PCF brief then you need to do so ASAP.

What makes a good weekend?

Is it the shadow of the new AM3 platform that I have to review?
Or is it the need to review games for GEAR?
Mmm, I think its both those things and more. There is of course Rugby on tonight which means braai, dop en skop - always fun, KWV 5 helps me connect with my afrikaans roots as the brandewyn (forgive my horrendous Afrikaans spelling) helps to loosen up my Afrikaans vocabulary.

I have been recently looking into seeing what else I can get my Wii to do, legality of it is still under dispute but its always fun to find out you can get a family console to do more than just play games.

Since Paul (aka Widower) was away yesterday afternoon collecting his new BMW 1200GS (aka his IRL epic mount) the rest of us played COD 5 2v2 CTF. Once the teams were worked out to be balance the fighting ensued and flag captures were often done with tremendous screaming and shouting for support. Amazingly Brett and I managed to win by the skin of our teeth (although we are still awaiting a decision from the judges over a dispute... or ten.)

I fear I must leave you all and get back to my pile of work, but fear not for there will be another episode in this saga.

Cheers
Michael, aka KillerByte, aka Granma's Boy

The reason we post so little is because unlike forumites we really have to watch what we say.

On a few occasions I have typed out lengthy replies to threads and then deleted it all because as a member of staff I can't voice too much of my opinion. We have to gag ourselves, but its good to be posting again, I grew up on these forums and I will always come back here.

Ah, finally home after dinner with the family.

Now, if you do not know the tale of my current residence then let me inform you. My nickname "Grandma's Boy" comes from the fact that I live with my rather forgetful, OCD, stubborn grandmother (who I of course love dearly).

Now my Grandmother has always enjoyed rearranging rooms. So you can imagine the joy in my heart when I got home to discover my entire room had been rearranged. No longer can I lie in bed and watch stuff on my PC.

So dear readers, tomorrow, on top of all the work I have to do I now have to put my room back the way it was. sigh. no rest for the wicked I suppose.

Good night, and may your morning be less eventful than mine will be.

So dear readers the saga did invetably get more interesting, to say the least.

So last night I happily hibernated my PC in anticipation of the morning's work.

So I climbed out of bed, hit the power button and expected a nice windows login screen. Instead I was greeted with an error message.

Long story short, I had to delete the partition table, format and reinstall windows.

When you have a day of work the last thing you need is a PC that doesn't work.

So the sags my friends came to an end.
Our hero did all his enemies slay and his friends defend.

There is a moral to this tale
but to me it is alluded.
I fear that I am now more frail
now that it has all been concluded.

Enough of this rhyming
It must now stop
I am not trying
dot dot dot okay I can't think of a word that rhyms with stop dot dot dot oh *****, its top.

Last night's quest my friends was Windows 7.
It is quite funny that within a week all the office laptops have Windows 7 on them.

I will not ryhm or riddle this little tale for it is too much work.

Windows 7 is fast, so fast that you actually can't believe the speed. Its faster than XP, blitzes past Vista and makes you believe that even the lowliest machine is a power house. Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, Microsoft has finally made the ultimate OS!!!
