hello == goodbye?
Microsoft Word 2003 lists "ciao", "hi", "goodbye", "so long" and "see you later" as synonyms of "hello".
Have I been missing something for these past 21 years? Do people actually use "hello" as a parting-greeting?

Re: hello == goodbye?
not necassarily, ciao can also mean hello and goodbye from my understanding!
Re: hello == goodbye?
Yes, but 'goodbye' is definitely not a synonym of 'hello' (as MS WOrd suggests) - it is an antonym.PureFire wrote:not necassarily, ciao can also mean hello and goodbye from my understanding!

You know, the other day I was walking out of the shops to my car, carrying my daughter. She was waving at everyone saying, "Bye." One black lady looked up at her, smiled, and said, "Hello."
