Nissan Hardbody 3.3SEL 2002

Post by SBSP »

Hi I'm not familiar, with bakkie's

I always hear stories of bakkies with broken gearboxes , turbos' and broken engines.

Besides the fact that it will use allot of juice.
Are these bakkies ok ? Opinions ?

But all bakkies are pricey. That just sucks.

But you can pick up nice second hand ones. Especially buy from PTA of JHB. There they guys don't do much offroad! :D

Ah Man the ban turned it down!

They dont want to finance a 2002 model only if i pay 20K deposit, and over 48 months. :(

A Ford or Mazda is a good bet. I have owned Toyota, Izuzu and Ford, Ford has come out tops.
Regarding the finance on an older vehicle, yes they will ask for a deposit but normally 10%, I would try some of the dealers that have their own in-house packages.

I am currently looking at buying myself a nice 4x4 dbl cab to replace my Corsa ute as I need both space and a load bin. from everything I have read on various forums ppl seem to rate the 2.7l Hilux really high! The engines are apparently bullet proof, one guy on the hilux forum has over 400k+ km on his lux with no problems...
The KZte is also really nice but I don't think ou are saving much (if anything) going Diesel. I know the fuel consumption is better (by maybe 1 or 2km p/l but you have to do a full oil service every 7500km vs petrol at every 15000km and Diesel is more exspensive. I do about 3500km per month and I am leaning toward the petrol.

Don't forget to post pics regardless of what you get!

EDIT: Missed your last post, that sux man

Ive got a simple question.

If i remove the silencer of this bakkie will it make a huge differance in exaust noise.
Ye ye i know thats why its called a silencer, The silence at the moment have something
loose in it and it makes a knocking noise when starting it.

I dont want the exaust to overwhelm the engine's sound.

If i tap the petrol mildly the sound of pure V6 growles soft and nicely.
If i tap tap it up to about 2000 revs then smack it hardish to 3500, the monster sound of what a real engine should sound like comes out loud and clear! :D Hehe i'm still new to this and it still gives me goosebumps everytime when doing it.

Back to the silencer, I dont have spare cash at the moment, I took it in and they said i can cut out the silencer and replace it with a straight pipe.

Will this make a big difference in the noise and how will it affect the fuel, i cant afford it to be any heavier
as it is already.

Its not the best thing to do.

Rather take the car to a good exhaust place like Viper and get a proper exhaust system built.

To just remove it might work and sound good but you could be sacrificing power and fuel consumption.

The noise will start to annoy you after a while.

The reason its heavy on fuel could also be because of the damaged silencer.

Thanks, I'll rather knock along for now.

I hate the sound of a car exhaust.
