Sunrise has officially announced there plans for the live action adaptation of their cult classic anime series Cowboy Bebop. The American film studio Twentieth Century Fox, the production company 3 Arts Entertainment and Sunrise itself are collaborating on the movie project. Keanu Reeves who starred in movies like The Matrix, A Scanner Darkly, and Johnny Mnemonic is slated to star in the upcoming live action movie. Joshua Long is acting as the production supervisor and Erwin Stoff, will be the film’s producer he worked closely with Reeves in some of his previous movies. The Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe, and the original series script supervisor will be acting as the movies production consultants.

Thetrick is not to get too excited. Because there is no way a live action can live up to the anime. It can probably get close but like i said there is no way.

Sunrise president Kenji Uchida, the TV series’ director of animation, Shinichiro Watanabe, and series writer Keiko Nobumoto will serve as associate producers. Series producer Masahiko Minami will serve as production consultant.Having some of the masterminds from the original project may just help retain of the charm and hip coolness of the anime.
