The scariest movies you've seen

Post by OnlyOneKenobi »

In the spirit of Halloween, I figured I'd start this thread...

What are the scariest movies you've ever seen?

At the top of my list is Event Horizon... that movie just freaked me out and gave me nightmares for ages...

Then there's also The Shining, Poltergeist, Pet Sematary, The Mist, The Ring, The Grudge, The Hills Have Eyes...

The Grudge took my breath away - literally. I don't scare easily but that must tap into the subconscious as every time they showed its face - I could not breathe.

Crazy Monkey - Straight Outta Benoni!

Seriously though, Amityville Horror was pretty scary, as was "The Others" (until the end).

Event Horizon, awesome movie. The Shining, which is on tonight on SABC3 at 22:30 BTW.

The most disturbing movie I've seen was The Exorcism of Emily Rose, I couldn't sleep after that...

IT, the clown movie, novel by Stephen King. Nightmare on Elm Street scared the daylights outta me when I was young and watched it the first time, now it's like a comedy. Movie called Cat's Eye, very rare, was cool when I first saw it.

Untraceable with Diane Lane was pretty hardcore, but more thriller than horror. There was one called Hide and Seek with de Niro and Dakota Fanning, also pretty eerie.

I've seen the first Exorcism movie and it freaked me out. Like you said; "I couldn't sleep after that". I try and avoid anything similar to The Exorcist movies.

Hehe never saw the Excorcist, but I did fall asleep while watching the Excorcism of Emily Rose... my friends were sitting there, wide eyed and terrified after watching what they thought was a very scary movie, and I had fallen asleep.. lol... by then I'd been desensitised to horror by playing hours of Doom 3...

Hehe, I'm also not phased much by the in your face horror movies. The ones that get to me are the movies that plant seeds in your mind that surface later and really make you think about it, The Exorcism of Emily Rose was such a movie for me, and the fact that it's based on actual facts adds to the disturbing part. I really recommend it, it's much better than The Exorcist.
