So, as you guys may know, i was sent a Pico-ITX board from VIA to do a mod. I was then also sent some goodies from an awesome Company called Logic Supply. I decided to put it all together to do some testing while i wait for a monitor to arrive from the US for the Pico project.

So, here's the system:





Yes. That's a full, working PC. Motherboard and PSU on the right, HDD on the left. Just to give you an idea of the size - the board measures 7.2x10cm. Here's the setup next to a regular size Rubik's cube:





After searching the internet for many weeks, i found the perfect case:





In went the HDD:





And in went the rest of it:





The rear I/O Panel:





It took me many months to do this build. As you can see, the attention to detail is mindblowing. The work on the rear I/O panel was very intricate.

So, i sat back and looked at it:





And realised i didn't have any input interfaces. lol. The SATA cable was getting on my nerves too. So, out with the hardware, some more VERY complicated modding on the rear I/O section, in with the new SATA cable:





In with the hardware, including USB:







As you can see, my cable managemant is absolutely unparalelled.

Build complete:





It works!





I have yet to do any concrete testing, but i will do so.

Anyway, this is all just a little fun i'm having while i wait for a 7" Touchpanel to arrive from the US from the guys at LinITX. Once that arrives i can start working hard on the PROPER pico mod. I hope to have Endorphin finished one of these days too

Lol Dae you mullet...you must either have gotten a girlfriend recently or a REALLY awesome job, 'cos we hardly ever see you anymore, and THIS level of modding, whilst brilliant, isn't quite up to your usual level

Urban, i'm as single and jobless as they come. What's weird though is that i've been MAD busy. lol. I HAVE been studying though...

I think the soap idea is great... But not just any soap, you need Mr. Muscle multi surface cleaner!!! That stuff even removes the chrome from chrome bumpers!!!

I was a little concerned with temps, plastic melting, EMI, short circuiting and grounding of electronics but it seems to be happy.

Nice one.

You can wrap this board up in plastic wrap and it still wont overheat! It's insane when it comes to thermal management. I ran it in the lunchbox for about an hour or so and the heatsink felt not a single degree warmer.

Really interested in these boards, ell not pico, cause they are just way overpriced, but just mini-itx, but even that is way over my budget

Did some further reading. It's actually 5V. No idea where I pulled the 3.3V from...
Even so, only 2 wires connected to the HDD would worry me (as I'm used to the usual 4, even though 2 are only ground).

Well, to correct you FURTHER

Usually, there are 5 wires connected to a SATA HDD. 12V, 5V, 3.3V, and two ground wires. SATA HDDs can survive without the 3.3V though.
