ooc: nothing wrong with the Porsche, we have on site mechanics and workshops to fix them/panel beat them if they're a good car before we put them into the sales yard, nothing wrong with the Cadillac, C230, Bombardier either as in they were flawless, but the Porsche has been fixed up and is just sitting there right at the start of sales.
You'd be surprised what it takes to have a car written off here, for example this:
would be enough to have a car written off. If the bumpers are made of fibreglass then the damage is even less apparent.

It is in the nature of the beast.

ooc/ Well, since the cost/hr of anything here is like really bloomin expensive (like up to $30 an hour at some places) and insurance companies generally don't shell out any reasonable amount as it is just usually affordable for the owner to just buy another one, that is what happens. Though such cars are rare on the streets here, you'll see more BMWs, Mercs and Audis in Botswana let alone South Africa, and most people who drive such cars have mad money anyway so it's unlikely/only occasional that we get to see such cars coming into our salvage yards. Most of the cars here are just your usual Pontiacs, Chevys and Fords.Tribble wrote:ooc/ Wow - that is hardly damaged. There must be something else wrong. If something appears to be too good to be believed - it usually is.
You will likely however see more Mustangs and other muscle cars.

Sounds Like you have an interesting job. also, because new cars are reasonable cheap, there is very little in the way of a second hand car market+ emmissions laws mean that after several years most cars can't be driven...sun_walka wrote:ooc again(soz :p ): Yo Prime, Yo Schase and Yo Tribs.
Well, I work at the largest salvage yard in the province, but most of the good quality cars that are brought in are perfectly functional/got nothing wrong with them coz they've usually been confiscated from drug dealers, war criminals, etc, or they've been involved in some kind of scandal, criminal case so sometimes we get to test them since they are now the legal property of the provincial government, hehehe
Other good cars just a little scratch is enough to have them written off, the BMW had not even a bump on the left corner and was written off as its too expensive for the insurance company to fix and usually the owners don't bother to redeem their vehicle (they have to pay a fee for this) and so we get em and then....the rest of the vehicle is history as most of them are dismantled and shipped out for spare parts, etc, some however do make it into our sales yard, like this classic Porsche 944 we've been trying to find the keys for(apparently they've been misplaced, but once we find em you can be sure it's pedal will find us ), otherwise it's a good job, doesen't pay too well but it does have it's perks, and test driving some of the cars is one of them.
Edit: I'm with the security department

The CD was stronger than the USD until recentlyschase wrote:Canadian $s ...Tribble wrote:ooc/ @Sunnywalka - I had not counted the fact that you were dealing in $s. I guess some people really do have far too much money that buying new would be cheaper than repairing.
