Warning I'm the number 1 hit on google (Facebook)

Post by SBSP »

For the ones who like their privacy

and the ones who dont know (Ye ye its probably old news)

Your profile is now public.
Yesterday i wanted to see what google show when i type in my Name and Surname

And i ranked right at the top. At first i thought its my facebook cookies or something scanned by google , but google on my phone does the same.
I'm not sure if its possible to disable this though. 8O

Dont they warn you about these changes

If you don't want your details all over the web, make your profile private.

Yeah, i seriously don't see what the issue is.

So what, someone knows my real name, how i look. How is that a risk to me? It isn't.

Once you're giving out your address and stuff then it's a different story, but your name and email address can't get you into any trouble.

I have to agree with DJV here, name and face is not really going to get you into any trouble. You just have to have your wits about you with these social networking sites.

My profile is completely private and only people I accept as friends can see it. So if anyone were to search for me, they only get to see my profile pic and a few friends I have - this aints such a big thing for me then :)

I feel sorry for the people who doesnt change their privacy settings on their accounts though.

And I love facebook - got into contact with so many old school friends with whom I speak to now almost daily. Its a really nice app to have Nuke.... and I can check out jamin's huge collection of motivational posters whenever I want to :P

Well -- did a search on mine and nothing came up in regards to facebook.. Maybe it's just cause your profile is public and not private..

My profile is private and it came up - but you cant access it as I said. Maybe there's a setting somewhere to switch this off or something.

I just don't like it that any personal info is on the net. I am a bit paranoid in a sence. I fully agree that its a wonderfull system and that it works really well.

Having your name on the internet isn't that bad. It's when your name, ID number, home address and phone number are published, then you're stuffed!!!

Well what more is there to see? Having full access to see your profile means that they'll also see.... um... well nothing new. Photos and interests, neither of which can put you in any danger.

As Hex says, your name and face are no issue. Put your ID up and you're screwed.
