Disaster! Something happened to my internet bandwidth, I only have a few megs left. This means I'll be offline until friday. :( I'll lose my 9th spot, and so close to #8 too...
yip, GPU folding is a lot faster... although when you get hit with 511point WU's then its not fun.
I'm currently running on those... They take just as long the 1888pt WU's and I only get around 384pt's for them. Will the 1888pt WU's return?

Anyway:
SMP CPU Client
CPU: AMD4200+ x2 @2.3ghz
RAM: 3GB DDR800
OS: Vista Ultimate x32

Nvidia GPU Client
CPU: AMD4200+ x2 @2.3ghz
RAM: 3GB DDR800
OS: Vista Ultimate x32
GFX: XFX 8800GT

So just a small update

>> we're only ~800 spots away from 800th spot which means we can then get sig images (see my sig) with our individual stats in it.

>> I managed to break 250 000 points, next milestone is 500 000...

>> TheModDoctor and Halo Communications (who ever that is :D) have managed to break 50k, their next milestone is 100 000, I wish them the best of luck with that.
>> Also noted that both have managed to go from 25k to 50k within 5 days

>> Thanks again to all who have helped, without you guys we wouldn't be getting anywhere as fast as we are.

>> I also see that we're sitting with 1.2mil points, just a few days ago we just breached 1mil.... the points seem to be flying in, I can't wait to get to 2mil and onwards

Friday the 17th we broke 1mil, and a week later we are at 1.2mil. Then in about 4 weeks maybe we'll be at 2mil?

The team currently in 800th is "Lucidsoft" with 3084943 points  So if I got this right, at our current rate it will take 9-10 weeks for the 800th spot. The trouble is the higher you get the more difficult it becomes to climb, because the folders up top are folding much more frequent than the bottom ones.

Yesterday I had problems downloading new WU's for the CPU client, but eventually it got right. Maybe the standford servers are having a hard time?

I hear you, but I hope that the "bottom" of the 800 spots isn't too competitive, although we will need to fight to keep it as its where everyone wants to be

EDIT: Thanks Darkstar, I'll add it once I start my laptop up

Interesting, I've looked at the teams between us and #800. Currently our team got 247,000 points in 7 days, and only 4 other teams beats that :)
Take a look at the Shippensburg University Computer Science Department team. The one guy there did more that 1.6mil points in 7 days   In 24hours he did more than we did in 7 days. Does he use a super computer or something?

he may be a student at a university in a country where they have free/cheap bandwidth and the university allowed him to utilize all their pc's to fold... that could add up quickly considering that if you had a university with ~20 Core2Duo pc's, folding with SMP, that should give you about (at least) 1920points per day, per pc.

so 1920*20= 38 400points in one day, now how many universities only have 20 pc's? we talking 100 or more so yes, it's quite easy to get there.

Update

> Darkstar has managed to reach 25k, well done

> Sadly the new members hasn't increased, so please, get out there and get friends, family and companies involved... get them to fold under your name if you want

> It's nice to see that we managing to average 35k per day, not bad guys.

yea dude please do. im only running the gpu client at the moment.

what are your average performance levels ? im getting around 1110 iterations/sec. on a 4870 running 780/1000 .

usually most people don't measure by iter/sec but by PPD, which can be worked out through a fomula or just by installing fahmon.

I've averaging just over 10 000PPD through my 3 rigs.

EDIT: Mow, I suspect you're using Vista? If so then which architecture 32 or 64bit? If not then which OS are you using?

ok questions ,

how is your points per wu calculated as i see there is no standard system.

There is a standard system.

They bench each unit on a standard machine and that is the scope assigned to it. For smp units, the standard score is 1720 iirc and then 'x' is added to it depending on how long it took for the base machine to do it

most SMP units I have seen are 1920points. Pretty much they benchmark on their servers and then send it out to the masses with the points attached.

We plug the results of this benchmark test into the following formula:

points = 1760 * (daysPerWU)

yeah, most seem to work out to 1920

so it takes on average 1.090909091 days to complete an SMP unit on their benchmark server... I'm getting ~3500 odd PPD on 1920 WU's... maybe they need to update their benchmarkers

although that means less points then... hmm, maybe they need slower benchmarkers

Well as you can see from the stats i am atleast ticking over when it comes to adding points. Only got a single core 2 working at the moment. Will be leaving my gaming rig on once i get it. Got told to use my 8800 GT instead of my Quad core however.

uh... use both?

stanford don't like it too much but most guys (me included) run a SMP client with the GPU client, puts out about 7000PPD
