Haha, no. This guy describes himself as English, yet sounds like he puts everything through Google Translate.

I found it entertaining - but then I am currently practising work avoidance, so I would possibly find anything not work related, entertaining.

Re: A thread not for the easily offended
Maybe they should think about getting a young guy for pope next time. Not one with one foot already in the grave. One the other hand, a sexy young nun as figurehead may just convert a few people.....I'm sure even hamin will apply for altar boy in that case.

not yet an hero, but hope springs eternal...
i'm a terrible person but i'd give anything to deliver a sound thrashing to all involved... the mother most of all... when did enabling this type of behaviour become a good thing?

What do you mean "enable"? What would you have done if you were in that mother's shoes?rustypup wrote:not yet an hero, but hope springs eternal...

Re: A thread not for the easily offended
i would say "gotten the kid professional help" as the first step as opposed to pushing this, possibly manufactured, drama into the public realm where the backlash could just as easily have been profoundly negative.
saying she made a terrible decision is an understatement.
"kids bully outliers" is hardly news and short of isolating the "bullies" will not be solved by being supportive of attention seeking drama queens.
question: what happens when the real world intervenes again?

Re: A thread not for the easily offended
and used facebook to publicise how great she is? not the purported reasons, sure.. but context speaks volumes...
facebook.
think it through.
add the fact that her son's displays of attention seeking were acted out in similar fashion on instagram and you're observing an unhealthy family environment, top to bottom. (i am a long way form convinced that his behaviour was sincere).
"'I put it out there. I was desperate. It was a survival plea,' she said."
rubbish.. this is not the behaviour of a parent sincerely looking to help her child...
<edit>
i should haver prefaced this by saying that i acknowledge the kid is deeply troubled. but this is not a solution. this is a delaying tactic. until he learns the coping mechanisms required to process unwarranted criticism he is going to go through life playing at being a victim. all this little drama has done is teach him that playing the victim works...

I predict suicide before he hits 20. Also keep a lookout for a youtube "selfie" before he offs himself.
Edit: just saw the pics in the article. With that face he needs to do a barrel roll shortly before an hero.

Re: A thread not for the easily offended
While skimming through a newspaper this morning, i happened across a report in which mention was made of imprisoning(or worse) those found guilty of religious defamation. Why is it that some people think that it is incumbent upon them to take umbrage at something that, to their mind, might upset the delicate sensibilities of their omnipotent entity of choice (or that of their parents). Can they not leave retribution up to the offended deity in question?

Re: A thread not for the easily offended
No they cant, because when nothing happens to the people who deny their deity, it may lend credence to their assertions that said deity is just nonsensical make believe.
So they "punish" these blasphemers and claim the deity put them up to it. Mysterious ways and all that.
Have a look for videos of an Aussie bloke named Jim Jeffries on youtube. His opinions are worth listening to
