The truth is you were misinformed.
They use part of your colon to create a vaginal tunnel up to 20cm deep.
The procedure is called Sigmoid colon or colon cut vaginoplasty.

That's not a big sacrifice compared to a lifetime of unhappiness living in a body you don't feel comfortable in.

I wonder how much change such hormonal treatments can cause from such a young age? I'm all for freedom of choice but by approving of something like this you might as well give 10 year olds the choice to have sex. Heck, just remove all child pretection laws while you're at it and treat them as adults. I know a few activists who would have a field day in court over this in the USA.
This is gonna be one unhappy adult someday...

I beg to differ: With hormones his/her chemical makup will change in such a way that he/she will start thinking & acting like a female. We are governed by our hormones, ask any teenager therefor with hormonal changes he/she/it will essentially be a female inside.
No amount of hormones can make the Y chromosome go away.
As much as (s)he may appear to be female in looks, actions and even thoughts - she will always be male. By birth. It's a psychological as well as a physical thing. It will come up every time she meets a guy she likes, it will come up every time she has a medical examination. It will be there like a chip on her shoulder.
