Project: Paradigm 100% Complete - Final Pics!

Well, it's christmas, everything is closed, so i can't buy paint or plexi for Endorphin, and my family is in christmas mode (i don't celebrate christmas so i need to keep myself busy). So, what do i do, i mod something ELSE!! Woohoo!!

So, this afternoon i grabbed one of my 360s and pulled it apart. Here's the top cover:

Image

Inside:

Image

All masked up and ready for some love. Say hello to my little friend!

Image

Almost done cutting:

Image

Alrighty, panel out:

Image

Image

Now it's all down to lots and lots of sanding...

Sanding done:

Image

A quick test fit:

Image

Excuse the two random wires and masking tape in the 360. Those are wires i've soldered onto the underside of the board for 5V power source.

What i needed now was the window. This is the plexi i'll be using for the window.

Image

Don't worry, it's transparent plexi, it just has a blue protective film over it. I didn't bother cutting that plexi to size just yet because i first want to cut a nice window border like i did here with Endorphin's side panel:

Image

I'll probably only get to do that next week though when everything opens :(

Anyway, 360 back together:

Image

Image

And back on it's place

I have a few goodies on their way to me from china. I ordered them just before i went on holiday, so they should be here any day now. I ordered some replacement rear fans, an LED lighting setup... err... can't remember what else :|

WOW, this is gonna be another awesome mod to look forward to...

you thinking of going with the XBOX color scheme with the LED's and stuff? or gonna choose your own?

now if only you could do one of those neat 'screwless' window mods... would look pretty 'clean' with no visible screws and just the window in place...

Thanks guys! :D

No, i don't THINK so...

I have yet to decide on a colour scheme, but i don't think i'll be sticking with the default X360 theme...

Anyway, update time!

I started with the HDD enclosure today. So, we all know what the HDD looks like in it's default form:

Image

After opening it up, i pulled the top piece apart from everything else, and then I masked it up:

Image

Almost done cutting:

Image

Done sanding. Just have to make the edges smoother:

Image

Now, the 360 HDD enclosure has a nice chrome side:

Image

That fits like this:

Image

But that little bridge in the middle is in the way, so it needed to go:

Image

All done, no plexi yet though:

Image

And then, finished!! All pimped out with a nice 1.5mm clear plexi window :D

Image

Image

I just need to get rid of that "Warranty" sticker on the HDD...

I'm gonna be lighting the inside of that enclosure with a bunch of blue LEDs, which i'll start working on now.

That's it, hope you guys like it!

Regards
Ettienne

nice... I see you did that 'no screw' thing with the hdd window... how exactly do they do that?

or am I seeing wrong? is that window actually 'in place with the hole, or is it behind it?

Expoy or silcone to stick it but it takes about 24hours to fully dry but its worth the wait and you also goto use g clamps to hold the to parts together if i'm not mistaken

DJV am i wright about the glue and can it be used because i use these glues and it works fine

You're right fiber, but that window isn't FLUSH mounted, it's behind the hole.

I redid the window last night though. I cut a piece of plexi to EXACTLY the size and shape of the hole, except i made is SLIGHTLY bigger, and then forced in into the hole. Noe it's a flush mount window. I'll post pics later :)

Update.

I wasn't happy with the HDD window. So i decided to make a flush mount window. This way, instead of having the hole in the cover with a piece of plexi INSIDE, you have a piece of plexi SLIGHTLY larger than the hole, which is then FORCED into the hole and the result is a window that's FLUSH with the cover. It looks a million times better:

Then it was time to get some LED goodness going. So, i took out the HDDs cables:

Image

I needed these two:

Image

Yellow is 5V, black is ground. Wires stripped:

Image

Then after testing with a multimeter, i quickly soldered on an LED just to make sure:

Image

Success. So, after removing that LED, i made these:

Image

I also soldered on a resistor:

Image

Glued the LEDs in place:

Image

Once that was done, all i had to do was put it all together. All done:

Image

Lights off:

Image

Image

Not too bad if i must say so myself!

Now i need to change the LEDs on the ROL (Ring of light) ASAP. The green doesn't exactly go with the blue in the HDD.

Let me know what you guys think.

Regards
Ett

Awesome! Nice job.

man now that looks awesome...

so there is quite some space between the hdd and the covering then after you removed that bridge? what LED's, 5 or 3?

if you modded chrome LED holders, would they have fit on that cover, and not conflict with the drive itself?

Sorry for the late reply Ettienne, maar dammit... dit lyk stunning.

Got to say though, I totally agree with you on the window of the HDD, the flushed version looks MUCH better. Those blue LED's that you installed looks amazing. Think I should give you my XBOX for some of your handywork!!

What I think you should do is spraypaint the XBOX black when you are done? Just a thought, use it, don't use it! :-D

I think a nice black Xbox would look awesome, especially with the blue LED's

Listen guys, i need your advice. I need to paint this 360 soon, so i need ideas for colour. So far i'm thinking either white, black, or a dark grey.

Keep in mind that the lighting is blue :)

Black with blue looks nice but its been done SSSOOOOO many times... What about Orange with blue lighting

by DAE_JA_VOO
Hmmm.... black and blue would look great, but like you say, it's been done to death :(

I don't like orange... but how about a nice candy apple red? Or Yellow maybe?

Yellow and black always go well together. Make your Xbox 360 become a Hornet 360 :D

Candy apple red with ice white or Yellow with Green. But Blue and red is also everywhere you look.

How about the dark grey paint and blue LED's? I think that would look pretty cool. Anything except white

Paint it Black and White checkers (As in a chess board or Grand Prix Finish Flag if you like)

Quite appropriate as "Paradigm" means pattern

I'd say dark Grey.

Just get a proper dark Grey. Or maybe Gunmetal black...

Or get a gunmetal black and give it a slight blue tint so when you look in the light it makes blue glows or whatever.

Or ... :? :? :?

I agree with Darkranger, gunmetal black with blue tint would look awesome.
