CPU Too Hot

Hi all

my CPU (P4 2.4Ghz) is running a bit hot its about 49-50 idle and 59-60 under load but my PC is pretty stable I have added one fan in the front at 3000RPM (well thats what the bios tells me) and it's made no diffrence to the CPU temp it did cool down my HDD though I am going to get one more at the back blowing out. Is my CPU temp OK or is it too high
I am olso going to get a new mobo with more thing to get hot wich means more heat it's never really consernd me but I don't understand it i have no floppy drive (big hole in front) and lots of air vents

1. Check the heat paste
2. Check your voltages

Are you using your fan & HS that came with the CPU?

try placing another fan in the front and one at the back to exhaust, cause otherwise heat could be trapping in there from all your components.

Other than that, what is your ambient temp?? those temps are high, but nothing to be very worried about, but if your ambient temp is high then on an HSF your temps will be high, my friend has a 3Ghz P4 and on Prime95 he gets it up to 60 something degrees, so really I dont think you have a big problem.

I got a P4 3GHz and I get to 55 degrees if Im unlucky. but then I dont have Prime95

So much for the AMD vs Intel argument of "Intel runs cooler"

MY XP 2200 idles at 45, runs 48

yes and yes my case is pretty big and not crowded I got these temps from the BIOS how acurate do you think it is I have only one more space for a fan(of cource theres lots of space to drill more holes)

i dont kno , touch it to see if its accurate? j/k
i have a 2,4ghz p4 as well it idles at 35C
thats with the case open, no extra fans, just the hsf that came with the cpu

Well how many fans do you have..??
I played around with my fans till I got what I was looking for....it's not 100% but this is what I've done:

I've tied down every last bit of wiring reason for this is you get more cirulation within the case and it looks neat.

I'm gonna put up a skematic of what my case looks like:

This just shows where your fans should be more or less.

This is all my problem area's

My airflow still got problems with the cdroms..?

So Garp this is more or less my idea how to setup fans I might be right or might be wrong but this works the best for me to remove air round the HDD'S & CPU & AGP & PCI and Chipset area's.

And I'm still not done with the setup still want fans on the cdroms and ram.?

Check your thermal paste that it's nice and thinnly spread on CPU
Mhmh no heatsink on your chipset no extra cdroms,HDD or big AGP card garp...you should be able to run this system around a stable 40deg.

um...thats not as easy as I thought it was I tried to get my CPU fan and heatsink I pulled up the two little white levers and it came a bit loose but thats about it it's not going anywere so after pulling tugging and ratterling the thing I gave up
Check the voltages too
what should they be

I felt the heatsink and it was hardly warm maby there is something wrong with my mobo temp reading thing
