IRB Rugby World Cup 2007

Post by DarkRanger »

Yes guys! It's finally here!! The 2007 IRB Rugby World Cup.

Here's a topic where you can discuss who you think will win the cup, what changes should be made to form your dream Springbok Squad or any thing regarding the World Cup.

Enjoy!!

Personally, I think the bokke might have what it takes to win this year, but France are favourites as they are the host.

Who do you think will win the SA/Eng game?

IMO it will be much harder than the England we beat earlier this year, but it should still run our way.

It's been 20 years since the All Blacks have won the World Cup but this is gonna be the year of The All Blacks. Dan Carter is gonna be the key man and I hope he doesn't get an injury during the cup.

One thing that bothers me though is that the All Blacks have a pretty easy pool so they won't really get tested in any of the pool matches

The SA/Eng game is not gonna be as easy for SA as it was when they played England earlier this year and SA have to hope that they don't lose any players in the Samoa game

Personally I think Carter is over rated i think the french fly half is beter...

New Zealand should use Nick Evans as as flyhalf, that dude has skills!

I think either New Zealand or The Boks will take it home this year

If South Africa's campaign goes according to plan, we could be meeting the French in the semis. Now THAT would be a good game that could go either way.

I'm hoping the Boks will take it this year, and they have a good chance.

But realistically, I think it will be The All Blacks or the French.

Oh Noes
Paris - Leading international news agencies on Thursday launched a boycott of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, plunging the event into controversy on the eve of the opening game.
Oh noeeees, more money making schemes and politics... Seems like they are taking lessons from the FIA...

Wonder how this will fan out eventually and what SABC's comments and standpoint on this is going to be...

I agree - It'll be the boks, the all blacks or the french. The All Blacks seem pretty unstopable, but they have never really performed in a WC. If any team can stop them though, I put my money on the French, and if we meet them in the finals, I bet we can take them.

But I guess we'll see ey?

It's gonna be the boks and the all blacks in the final.

And like the boks, the all blacks struggle in World Cups away from home. SO: My verdict is, the boks will take it. but it's gonna be much like the 95 world cup.

ANYHOW: thats still far in the future, so lets just keep our heads to the pool games and see how it goes from there.

Thought the opening ceremony was really poor. Seemed to me like just a bunch of guys running around in striped shorts doing a dance move when they felt like it.

Well played Argentina

OMG....

Did the opening ceremony confuse you guys too ?? I dont know what to think of that.... besides that it was crapp-azz poor entertainment for something as great as the RWC. That said... then afterwards the game was even poorer. What a farce of handling errors, shyte poor kicking and general disorganisation. Any of the top 2/3 curriecup teams would have trampled Arg and France if thats their standard. What a dissapointment for an opener. :x

Here's to me hoping we dont perform on the same level of mediocrity. :?

I was definately thinking WTF?!? for the opening. And to think they paid someone to choreograph that. All I could think of was some poor sap hired in the background to blow and twist all these slim balloon helmets for those fools to wear while they "danced" on the field.

That opening ceremony was a total disaster, it was meaningless really and without commentary, it was even worse.
As Sojourn said, the only thing worse than the ceremony was the rugby!

Yeah first half was crap, but once the boys settled down they played very well! Especially Habana and Percy, and nice tries from Jacque Fourie and Pietersen as well!
