my Polo GTI (wheels updated)

Post by naughty »

i was going to buy a golf 5 gti to replace my aging citi golf - but sadly due to financial constraints i couldnt get the golf (need the money for other things) so i decided on getting a polo gti

i dont think im going to sleep till tuesday - im just busy organizing the insurance and paying the dealership on Monday for the car and picking it up as soon as the transfer clears

heres the skinny - last week the car was at the dealership with a whole bunch of stickers - and it still had the checked cloth seats which IMO are totally fugly - so i ordered the leather

heres a small piccie of the car with the stickers all over the bodywork and the normal rims still on it

Image

so from monday onwards they started on the car and heres a few pics of how its finished off - i took these with my phone at the dealership - so please excuse the phonecam pics - will take loads of better pics once i collect her

heres the front wheel - 18" clones of the detroits - got the original vw badges to fit into the clones

Image

and heres on of the rear wheels - she definitely needs a drop - but im going to drive her around for a while and maybe do the drop once i can recover from spending all that im going to in the next few days

here she is all cleaned up and ready to roll - this is one of the money shots

Image

and heres a slightly different angle - couldnt do too many angles since she was parked too close to the wall - she actually looks a little lower in real life as compared to the photos - but i will do a small drop on her soon

Image

and this is whats going to be amazing - the fugly cloth seats have been transformed into a thing of beauty - wait for the high res piccies of this - but this has to be seen to be believed - hard to say this is aftermarket - it just looks like the car rolled from the factory like this

Image

this is anthracite with red stitching - wanted it a darker black - but im not gonna complain with how she finished off

damn - now i just cant wait to pick her up - watch this space for some decent high res pics next week

future long term plans include in this order :

1) complete the audio setup
2) caractere front bumper
3) some form of eyelids
4) ANO rear valence (cos its real cheap compared to the votex and looks about the same)
5) color code the factory side skirts
6) Eibach 35mm drop
7) Koni FSD shocks
8) chip the car and then do other work on the performance

Awesome man.

Congrats. With your mods it will be a unique little monster.

Now comes the fun part. Keeping a black car clean for longer than 5 seconds after washing it

its already been glazed - hopefully that will help a bit - but the shine is just amazing

It helps. Had the same stuff done to my VTEC when I got it.

Have you ever owned a black car?

Have you ever owned a black car?
nope - this will be the first black one out of the 8 cars ive had so far

but apparently the shampoo that they give you is supposed to actually keep the car better than any other shampoo in conjunction with the glazing

Here is a little something i learned from owning a black car.

I only use Mequiars products. www.meguiars.com

They have this little product called ScratchX. If this cant remove a scratch then its permanent.

Black cars show scratches like nothing. Usually on top of the glaze coat. They show up as white lines. The normal polish from Mequiars works pretty well to remove the minor ones. Mind you Ive removed some pretty scary ones with it :D

The shampoo from Mequiars is also very good. After washing with a sponge and drying I usually run the car over with the detailing cloth. What a shine.

Just wash it once a week and the paint will stay like new.

haha - they always were - the last cabbie was pearl green - almost as dark as this black - and yep im sure id be able to keep her clean most of the time

thanks Maxxis - yes - i intend to use a lot of meguiars products - since the VWCLUB of SA members get a discount of those items (i think) and im gonna join that club soon - membership is only around R140 a year - and card carrying members get a 10% discount for a lot of items

10% discount just on the koni shocks alone pays for the membership fee at least 5 times over  8O

Meguiars is good.

Edit: BTW. Naughty, I don't like Volkswagens, but at least it's a working car, so I am jealous.

its okay ...... i forgive you LOL - lots of people dont like VW - so you are not alone - but i am a bit of a hardcore vw fan - the last 4 cars ive personally owned were in this order :

1) 1988 VW jetta cli 16v exec (fullyworked - did joburg to dbn in 3hours 15 minutes with this one once when she was race tuned)
2) VW fox 1600 atomatic
3) VW citigolf chico 1.6 luxline
4) and now this one

the fox and chico both lasted around 7 years each - so i got good service out of those

Ja, they're not bad cars. Just wish I had a car that is in a drive-able condition.

My uncle likes VW's too.

Block cracked, because the radiator was mostly blocked. I fixed that when I got the car, but still had problems. It's now at my dad's place, he saw the crack. It's really fine, you can barely see it, but when the engine heats up it expands. With my current financial probs I can't fix it.

Oh well, that's life hey.

shot Alpha - the wheels are more-or-less identical to the stock ones - just shinier and bigger with Pirelli P zero tyres on

gonna sell the original rims with tyres and buy a laptop with the cash - that will give me dvd in the car but with a big screen in comparison with the other guys with the specific car screens
