Not Really to do with creating your website,

But, I think it would be a cool idea to have someone
create you a DAE_JA_VOO desktop theme, with a cool Mod look and feel
freely downloadable
from your website, mebe that will add more "Marketing" value to it.

Cus other people will see it on their desktops.

I have been building websites for years now, and I must confess that if you want to take control of your website, you need a proper CMS that will run everything for you.

The greatest way to make a site is to move to the open source section of it. Joomla is so far the easiest and fasted CMS that I played with so far.

You can download all the nifty little goodies that you want from the open-source sites and get it working within a day.

Frontpage on the other hand is easy coz it is a WYSIWYG editor.

In Joomla you can put up CSS, XML, HTML, MYSQL and so much more additions.

All you need to do after uploading the files over FTP is think what kinda site you need to make, coz after installing the program, the amount of oppertunities that you have set infront of you will be endless...

Well this is just my opinion... Use it, don't use it... You choose.

Keep the faith and good luck

DAE_JA_VOO do your self a favor.

Download Joomla! and WAMP.

WAMP is a combined free open source package containg
Apache for windows with a pre configured ver of
MySQL and PHP.

And see if you like it or not.
Like Laeto sais ist easy to maintain and it has cool features.

The nice thing is it can also work like a client.
You can edit your site locally then connect to your online site and sync with your local one.

"Shout if you need help setting it up on ur own machine" to play with.

and there are many themes available but in your case customize it.
Heres a demo

http://demo.joomla.org/demo10/

If you going to make a custom site and have people design it for you the whole time you gna pay, sure maybe you get someone to help you make one for free now, but later on they will get tired of you asking them the whole time, and as far as updating the site , it will be up to you when you update it
and you wont have to depend on someone else.

I would most definitely go for a PHP content manager.
You dont pay, and you get good quality

I'll also make the plug for Joomla! specifically. It's really powerful, and easy to learn. But you also get professional-looking results.

If you want a ready-made template, drop me a PM as well. I have an account with http://www.joomlart.com, which designs very nice-looking templates. With a Joomlart account, you can use their templates on up to three websites. I am only using it on two, so if you want to use any of their templates, I can hook you up.

Of course, if you're used to a blogging type system, you can always install Wordpress on your domain and just customise it to suit your needs.

But Joomla! is better imo.

oh, before I forget.... There is a program that is a standalone server that you can test your site before uploading it.

The program is called JSAS...

http://jsas.joomlasolutions.com/compone ... Itemid,26/

It is the best thing to play with before working on a live server....

enjoy the program and when you are done, share your website with us so we can have a peek.

Okay, I have been looking for a long time for a way to test Joomla! sites offline. Thanks for the link, Laeto: that is just the coolest thing since sliced cheese! :D

I must say that I really like Joomla myself, although I'm still getting used to it (only started playing around with it a few days ago). I'll be using it for the FRAG LAN site, so when it's up you can see exactly what it does.

Update 1/1000

I finished the CMS creation and it is up online at the moment.

Dae: I emailed you the login details so you can play with it if you want to see how to add / edit / delete pages.

I will be finalising the design of the site template tonight.

Expect to see this site ready for content population by Friday if all goes well.

This is a little late bud. The site is already being done with a custom built CMS.
