Hey man, can you tell me where you bought your Samsung S23A950D from? Can also confirm if your's included a pair of 3D glasses? Some retailers are saying it does include 3D glasses where as others are saying it doesn't. I don't want spend 5k on this monitor if glasses aren't included.

I get most of my hardware from a private retailer in Somerset west. So my "old" hardware gets bought and I get a discount on my new stuff. But he ordered from Rectron.

The S23A950D comes with a pair of active shutters. It does NOT support nvidia 3D. It uses Tridef. Radeon 6000 series can do sequencial 3D meaning 120hz full screen. Then the screen itself does 2D to 3D which means 120hz but no proper depth detection/calculation. And then there is top-bottom and side-by-side 3D which is handled by the TriDef driver which is supported by all cards.

So not enough money for the 27-inch 3D screen from Samsung. In fact, not enough money for anything 27-inch. I'll be getting either the S23A350H or the S24A350H. What a drag...

But what about 120hz? :P

It would be nice, but it's not a must. I'm happy with 60 Hz. I'm actually more after the LED screen than anything else.

So, short story, 22" LG monitor died after 3 years, hunting around for two days for a replacement and came across the Samsung Syncmaster S23A300B 23" LED for R1799, woot. Quite a saving there!

Cannot believe I didn't go digital sooner, the image quality coupled to the resolution on the new screen are amazing!

I'm not keen on any brand except Samsung, which most people here know by now, but Asus also seems to be solid.

Mind me asking where you got the screen for that price from? I'm pretty interested in investing in one for myself.

Not at all, promotion at Matrix Warehouse head office in Alberton, other stores are still R1999. Had it for almost a week and loving it

I'm pretty used to my 24-inch now, so when I saw a 27-inch on the shelf the other day, it looked HUGE! Not sure I'll ever use a 27-inch again, unless it's to go to 120Hz / 3D.

Well, the product code is FDH3601, so I'm assuming it's a 36-inch screen. 8ms is not great for gaming, but for a screen of that size and spec, I think it's damn good.

*looks at wallet*

Nope, not quite there yet. To be honest I 22-24" for a screen, for my pc gaming screen is all I am willing to go. I've tried a 26" which was just too big for me from where I was sitting. 40" FHD looks good so go 60" and a 4k would also feel at home. Too bad PS3 or X360 wont use those specs and might not use them in the next consoles either.

I wonder what setup you would need for Crysis2, BF3 etc. at that res for minimum 30FPS at the highest setting?
