Thread Deleted  due to sensitive people.

P.S. I did read the Posting Rules for this thread and it said nothing about the fact that there is a lack of humor among this forum community

Will keep to what I know in future....

I'm actually one of the most insensitive people you're ever likely to meet. The thing is: I can tolerate ignorance but I can't tolerate stupidity. What you did was stupid.

But, hey, you're new, so I won't be that harsh on you (this forum hasn't seen how harsh I can be yet). Just please don't do it again.

EDIT: The Jokes thread is here - feel free to repost there.

That actually was my more subtle and less rude way. I could have started screaming "STFW" all over the place, started flaming, and so forth. Indeed, I was sorely tempted to do so. Instead, I pointed out the mistake, told him/her not to do it again, told him/her what to do next time, and gave him/her a link to the proper thread.

Dragonflyweb, why don't you now go and introduce yourself in the New Member's thread? It should go some way towards clearing up any bad feelings.

(I won't provide a link this time. You're on your own as far as finding it goes. Let's see what you've learned.)

Thanks :D I joined so that I could learn a little about what my hubby is actually into...Modding. This way when he talks to me about computers and stuff I will actually know what he is talking about as I now have a place to reference to.

So for me it is certainly going to be an interesting ride.

That joke was kinda funny.
And anyways, I've seen plenty of threads like this with jokes, never once saw such bs coming from people.
I didn't even know there was a joke thread either, who would?

This is a blatant untruth, it is generalisation that I do not like.

Dragonflyweb, I did not know about this, be assured, you are most welcome here, and if you post in the wrong place, all you need do is PM me and I will gladly move it. Please do not be put off by what happened.

I have gone to look at the deleted threads but cannot find this one here!

I do agree with you DEeRaY, a new poster may make mistakes, so what, I most certainly did, I remember Only1 helping me out. There are some I suppose who are having a bad day but mostly everybody is cool.
You did not kick up a stir Dragonflyweb, the whole thing was just badly handled, we are really a friendly lot.

Unfortunately I do have a reputation for being unfriendly to new users. You see, I've spent 3 years helping out on the UnrealIRCd support forums, and I've come across too many idiots who don't do their research before posting. These are the sort of people who post stuff about a problem, when the problem has already been solved and they would find out if they'd just use the search function, or people who ask a question where the manual explains it all. People like this DESERVE to get flamed. When you log on and see 9 threads out of 10 being rubbish, you tend to do such things.

I saw this too when I was working at CTI. There were some total idiot students there who should really have been studying to take orders at McDonalds. They asked me questions when a quick read of the study material would have given them the answer, and then would come back a few minutes later asking me the same question. Those students just wasted my time, time that I could have spent solving REAL problems. The frustration I had dealing with those idiots is part of the reason why I left.

On the other hand, if a new user shows intelligence and some basic problem solving skills, then he earns my respect and I'm willing to help. As an example, I received a private message from Kelevra (another new member) this morning. He was polite, he explained his problem clearly and told me that he had tried to look for the solution on his own. That's the sort of post that makes me want to go the extra mile to reach a solution, not some random posting of crap in the wrong place. On the support forums that I've worked on, I have seen people banned for less.

And who the **** asked you to post an essay about your past forum experiences?

Don't flame noobs, simple as that.

It's a forum rule. So if you don't like it then your the one who should move on, not the noobs.

This is how they learn fool.

Agreed. I'm all for joking around with people, but there is no need for this "ur a n00b so pis off" attitude. Everyone was a noob at one point so lets just learn 2 chillax and not get so upset about irrelevant crap.

@ Dragonflywed, welcome 2 the forums.

Imho I really think it becomes a problem when new posters actions is repetitive with regards to not adhering to forum rules, especially new posters makes lost of mistakes and we should be here to guide them, didn't you expect the same kind of courtesy when you were a newbie :?:

When I was new, I actually read the rules and followed them, instead of posting like an idiot.
