Looks awesome Dae...

Just a question - Why not align the screws on the side panel plexi/mesh? It looks a bit funny with the top and bottom rows out of line with the middle two rows...

Looking very good my friend... Just one question,

That S thats on the side there, are you gonna fill that in with something?

Otherwise very nicely done cuts, Dremel FTW

I think DJV's stepfather will help him out there, he will most probably fill it with something and then respray it. That's my guess. ;)

I wanted the screws to be perfectly spaced relative to the length of the specific piece of plexi it was on, not relative to each other. I think it turned out pretty good :D

With regards to the S. It might just turn out to be a problem. I've spoken to my step-dad about it. I wanna fill it up with the same stuff they use for cars, like bondo, but he says that because it's aluminium, the bondo will eventually just fall out. I'll rather have the S there than has it look a million times worse in the future.

I'm still gonna try though. I still have the piece of alu that i cut out, and the rest of the word is on there, so i'll bondo that and see what happens.

Dea why dont you knock it back into the panel ? take it to a body shop and they will knock the S back into the rest of the panel because they made it with a die press it wont be that hard to sync it back if you know what I mean

The other option would be to fill it by Tig welding the "S" then sanding it flush..

or what you can use it plastic steal, mix the two together. That will work for sure.
what you do is make small holes in the S, that way the liquid can seep through and that in return will hole the stuff in place. Obvisoulsy have more than needed so you can sand it down.

Will work for sure

Something you could do yourself is fill the S with epoxy and then sand it flat.

Did you use Epidermix or just ordinary pratleys?

Posted: 04 Dec 2007, 13:51

pratleys hey, probably why

Some epoxies harden to be alot harder :)

Ja, the Epidermix is hard and brittle... but takes like over a week to dry properly  It comes in two big tubs..
Pratelys epoxies are more user friendly they have a few different types like clear etc. they dry quicker but aren't as hardcore.

could always use some pratly steal glue there and file down the excess.

Ja, the quickset steel is an epoxy  They also have the steel putty..

I've found even the pratleys steel to be a bit brittle

pratleys flexible is about the best I've ever used and pretty durable too.

Use superglue combined with a very fine sand. Fill the S with the sand, then drop the super glue onto it. That will never come off. OR you can go buy the glue kit from Midas (Its got a Q in the name somewhere) VERY STRONG STUFF 8O

Q Bond, I wouldnt use it, its way to rough when set. I dont see why some body putty wouldnt work here.

Posted: 05 Dec 2007, 09:00

Not everything sticks to aluminium. So Q-Bond altough rough can be sanded down and because the panel is going to be painted you won't even see it. AND it won't fall out after a while either

Hmmm.... options options options...

Well, i can test them all :P

I still have the rest of the word "HUTTLE" :P So i can test it there. The first thing i'll try is the car stuff that my step dad uses. If that fails, i'll try all your theories :P

Thanks a lot guys ;)
