Well, if he's in the middle of the road he isn;t in your way (assuming you're driving in your lane). Trick question?
Otherwise - there is an island between two lanes (Dual-carriageway)
There are street lights next to the road?
He isn't really there and you should lay off the drugs.

UrBaN wrote:Depends on the direction of the turntable relative to the rotation of the blades. Even if they are the same direction though, the blades rotate much faster, hence there will be lift and take off.
rustypup, Obvious troll is...obvious?

Back to the topic on hand...assuming the above 4 points as laid out by rusty, one could have the motor running at the correct velocity for liftoff, whilst applying the wheels brakes until the turntable was at a high velocity. If you then released the brakes, the centrifugal force would shoot the helicopter off the side, at which point it would take off.
et Voila!

Ironoxidepooch, If I'm wrong, would you care to enlighten me as to why/how? Would be nice to know your side of the debate.

[-24h] After rethinking this, it makes sense that the plane actually would take off - the wheels vs. conveyor aspect is actually misleading - the wheels are not fixed to any 1 point on the conveyor and thus do not inhibit forward motion.

Briefly: when an object travels outward, the directional component of r changes in your centripetal force. at this point the object ceases to travel in a circular motion.UrBaN wrote:Wikipedia - Centrifugal Force
I don't like wiki's entry. Its rather verbose and long winded. Sometime when I'm not killing myself at varsity, I'll find my physics notes and explain it.

Prime, No, it means that instead of having to describe the theory and it's workings by typing it out, I gave you a reference with the info contained.

Prime, I'm with urban on the one. Read the article and post the proof as to why the wiki link is wrong.Urban wrote:Prime, No, it means that instead of having to describe the theory and it's workings by typing it out, I gave you a reference with the info contained.

I don't like wiki's entry. Its rather verbose and long winded, IE, it does not explain it concisely. Sometime when I'm not killing myself at varsity, I'll find my physics notes and explain it.
