A Question for the Heavy music guys
Ever heard of "Nightwish"?
I used to have ALL their music, but it was pirated stuff, Then i met Jesus and i broke the CDs. But now i crave that music, even though it's been so long. My question to you guys, is this:
Does nightwish have any religious preference? I want to buy their music now, and i can, but i don't wanna buy it if they're satanistic or something!! Anyone got any clue?

From the horses mouth!:
Not sure if this means you can or cannot listen to their music, but this is my source
Also:The music of Nightwish is very euphoric, epic, grand and gives you a larger-than-life feeling. Today a lot of people are not very religious, but many people think that religion is as important for the body as food and drink. Do you maybe think that Nightwish fans get that hole inside filled when listening to your music?
Could be. I mean, it's a little bit like if you get to see a good science fiction or fantasy movie. The need to escape within yourself or being a kind of an escapist, I guess. So, yeah, it feeds certain holes within the psyche or the soul. The lack of religion. But I don't know, because nobody of us are really that religious.
So none of your guys in Nightwish are religious to any extent?
No, I guess we don't recognize any religion as being an absolute truth.
Seems like a subject that would be discussed when you have all these lyrics. Maybe when you are sitting around the camp fire talking about the lyrics? Maybe Nordic mythology?
Could be. Like I said, this is a group that believes everybody should have their own thoughts, goals and visions, so I don't think that anybody in they group would say that they were for Jesus or for Satan, or anything like that. Anyway, religious extremes are just as dumb as political extremes. They have done nothing but to make life harder for the rest of us, if you look at the history.

Yeah, seems like it. If you go to their website, you can download some songs for free, but shortend versions, not the full song. "Dark chest of wonders" is such a good song, but i starts getting really good and then they cut it off!! (the one on their site is only like 1 minute 30 secs long
)

No - I like the music I like. What the musician believes is of no relevance to me.Cookie-Monster wrote:Do you think that the beliefs of musicians should affect what music you listen to, and can there music influence you?
Edit: Ghost Love Score is one of my favourite tracks, although I don't think Tarja has the right voice for the song. Seems she's left the group, anyway...

Yeah i have to agree with Thrall as well.... If i whant to listen to music and someone doesnt like it... that they're problem not mine...
"My Teamleader asked me the one day if i could stop drinking so I told him no..."
Now that might not have anything to do with the actual question but comes down to the samething,
cuz hes also a huge christian and doesnt drink or smoke, so yeah If someone else doesnt like my doings, listenings or habbits, thats they're problem.

I like NW too. Dark Chest of Wonders, Nemo and Sirens are my favourites.
I read some of the lyrics now and I don't really think that JC will be all too pleased with them. I mean "I'm in love with my lust, burning angel wings to dust", "Sleeping with angels" and "Welcome down to my planet Hell"? That doesn't sound Jesus-friendly to me...
**Off topic (kind of)**
I wanna know what's your guys opinions on Christian rock/metal and particularly hardcore music...

I honestly can't see how someone won't listen to something because the person that wrote it has a different belief to them...
