Hi all......

I recently got a 56k Rectron FAX modem from my uncle, but he lost the installation disc, so I went to the Rectron ftp site and downloaded the drivers, but I can't get them to work. It is a inf file and 4 others so I right clicked on the inf file and said install, but for some reason it still don't work. PLease tell me what I'm doing wrong!!!!!!

Thanx :!: :!:

Go to your device manager.
Right click on your modem and click on update driver.
THen tell it to look in a specific directory
Then do the browse thing and point it to the directory where you copied the inf file.
Windows should pick it up and install itself from there.

If you have Xp it might warn you that the driver is not signed, click Ignore, but make a system restore point, incase.

That should cover it, if it sais it did not find a better driver than the one it has, you might not have the right one. Or just try again.

1. What OS do you have?
2. Is it an internal or external modem?
3. What model is it, specifically?

Install it as a standard modem. Most externals (except most US Robotics modems) will work quite happily with that.
