Game of Thrones officially renewed for a second season
This is a great news for all Game of Thrones fans. HBO has officially renewed Game of Thrones for season 2. We have reported earlier that Game of Thrones might be renewed early for the second season. HBO have even started the production of season 2

Man this is good news and to think it happened after just one episode.

George R.R. Martin Has Completed A Dance With Dragons

George R.R. Martin's Not A Blog and A Song of Ice and Fire portal Westeros.org are reporting that A Dance With Dragons, the long-awaited fifth volume in George R.R. Martin's fantasy series, has been completed.

If the reports are accurate, this is great news for fans of A Song of Ice and Fire and puts the book on track to make its July 12th release date.

Great news hopefully we can find what "she" was  about say just before the cutaway scene at the end of A Feast for Crows 

I’m currently reading Tintin in the Congo. This is the 1991 black and white reprint of the 1931 version.  I love the Tintin series but this book really makes me a little uncomfortable

Busy reading Water for Elephants. Haven't enjoyed a book this much since "A Painted House" by John Grisham and "Power of One" by Bryce Courtenay.

found a new author... was pointed to Dan Ariely's Predictably Irrational... an excellent read for anyone puzzled by humanity...

next up: Swarm Intelligence

Just finished Isaac Asimov's The Caves of Steel and The Rest of the Robots. Can't believe I never read Caves of Steel! It marks the first coming together of some of the most illustrious characters in all his books: R. Daneel Olivaw and Elijah Baley. I'm saddened by the thought that at some point I won't be able to find any of his gems that I have not read before. My favourite author.

I've been reading the following;

Baal by Robert R McCammon
One evening while on her way home a young waitress is assaulted. What’s strange about the attack is that she suffered second degree burns everywhere the assailant touched her.  Nine months later she gives birth to a healthy baby.  Somehow the baby drives  the mother to commit an act that sees the child  removed from his mother’s care.  As he grows older,  the child only answers when he is addressed as Baal and he seems to exude an aura of menace.  Later Baal finds himself in the Middle East where he  is regarded as the Messiah, millions flock to him, eager to hear his message. Unfortunately he is shot and killed by (a Jew) before he‘s able share his vision. Baal’s murder sets the entire Middle East ablaze; it spreads across the world. People are exacting vengeance upon Jews for the killing of Baal; all the while Baal(he was never shot rather it was someone who looks like him)  is sitting back intent on causing more the destruction. 
There’s also a small group of people who exactly what Baal is and they are prepared to do anything to stop him.

This book was apparently written and published in the late 1970’s.    One can tell that this was his first book by the fact that it lacks cohesiveness. Apparently his first couple of books  aren’t that good, the problem is I have those books in front of me.


Darkness on the Edge of Town by Brian Keene 
The residents of  Walden    awoke one morning hurled into total darkness. Upon discovering that utilities such as water and power aren’t working, those that work in the city rush off to work, never to be seen again.  You see, a curtain of darkness / a black impenetrable mist has descended     on the town’s  periphery.  The protagonist Robbie Higgins and his friends discover that if you venture too close to the darkness you’ll hear the voice of a friend, a lover or parent calling out to you enticing (asking) you to step into the darkness.  After days of waiting for the authorities to arrive with help the residents realize they have to fend for themselves. Soon after that burglaries, looting, murders and rapes begin to occur. Somehow the darkness is amplifying all the inherent negativity/darkness each resident has thus turning neighbor against neighbor, parent against child  and friend against friend. Robbie and his friends have to devise a plan of escape before an unruly mob finds them or worse they(Robbie and his friends) start killing one another.

Keene is said to be one of the best new horror writers, unfortunately I haven’t read enough of his books.   While Darkness on the Edge of Town is not essentially a bad book, I have read better but I will make an effort to get my hand on his other books.

The Language of God is a really good book - though my mind still struggles with some of the things said by the author, Francis Collins.
Also busy with Star Wars Imperial Commando: 501st!!!
