I must admit, since doing Engineering, all this "science" has put my faith to the test...
I mean, its easy to debate that evolution occured over millions of years, while actually being "the seven days of creation"...

But when scientists say that the skeleton of a human is 40 000 years old, thats where I get confused, and hence can't post anything to debate that.

The "Seven days" is symbolical! It's actually like 7 thousand years.... well that's what I believe and yes I am a Christian!

Please do not let this quite interesting topic degrade into a religous argument, OK?

And Kronos is correct!

Looks like someone forgot to read Genesis. Anyway that would still make the earth ~50k years old. No difference in the arguement. Either it is relatively young or extremely old.

Edit: I'm going to sleep.

Weird, I didn't feel a thing. Then again, I was out in Boksburg most of today.

Epic resurrection time!

Anyone else notice a tremor in Joburg this morning around 7:30? Only lasted a second or two, but it was quite noticeable. Scared the bejeezus out of one of the cats.

^^ It was here in Alberton. There are sketchy reports of an inland tsunami at the Jackson Street Dam. It was definitely closer to 7:30 because I was just cleaning up all the cereal thrown at me by my four-year-old and trying to hurry her up for school.

Actually, it might have been slightly earlier than 7:30 because we left the house at 7:40, but it was definitely after 7:00.

Yeah, I was playing pokemon while in bed and it happened. I secretly hoped it would go on a bit longer than 2 seconds.

News24 wrote:An earth tremor occurred in Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, on Monday morning, the National Seismograph Network said.

Project manager Ian Saunders said the 3.1 magnitude tremor hit the Katlehong area at 07:15.

"There were earth tremors before in that area last year, also up to a magnitude 3. It's normal."

He did not know what caused it.

"It's difficult to speculate."
Doesn't it just give you the warm fuzzies that our National Seismograph Network "did not know what caused it" and does not want to "speculate"?

I'll speculate for you: It's a sign of the end.

lol it didn't even show up here http://www.niceone.org/lab/quakes/
However there was one near PE/EL 4.3 with a very low energy yield. I doubt anyone there felt it.

I'm guessing ours was caused due to some mines in the area or sink-holes.

Does it count as an earthquake if it was caused by mining activity?
