6800LE OC Query!

I can't seem to overclock my 6800LE after I've softmodded it. Only when I disable a few pipelines am I able too.

Am I better off with 16 pipelines with stock speeds of 300 and 700 clocks OR is 12 pipelines (with overclocking posible) better?

That is usually the case.

Just run some benchmarks and compare.

I ran Aquamark3 with 16 pl and scored 42230, Then scored 44458 with 12 pl and a little overclocking. But then scored 42350 when I increased the clock speeds even more.

Is that normal?

Run 3Dmark03 with all the pipes unlocked, then at the part where the girl attack's the trolls, watch for pixilation, if it does it means that one pipe is damaged, normally bit 03, then disable it and try overclock the RAM and GPU.

Also I’ve got a very nice Bios flash for it.

Thanx Carly! I'll check it out

BTW: What does the the BIOS flash do exactly?

If differs with every run. Take an average of 3 runs maybe?

I've got the same card and I unlocked an extra 4 four pipelines (the other 4 are damaged) so it runs at 12/6 with speeds of 375 and 871

I scored about 8000 in 3Dmark03

But this was on my P4 2GHz with 512MB SDR (PC133) RAM

the Bios flash pushs the GPU core to 435Mhz and the RAM to 910Mhz.
If the one pipe is damaged it could be stopping you from overclocking, from what I've experienced.

Bios is in post number 7.

I want to backup the standard bios, but where do I find it?

How do I flash the BIOS btw?

You have to use NV flash, and a stiffy disk, but make sure you have a old Pci card just incase it does not work properly.

Excuse my feeble knowledge base of flashing, etc... - old Pci card???

I read somewhere else that I can also use Winfox ( which comes with the card), but I don't see any options for doing that?

Well halo... I have read the article and they only talk about softmodding it. They don't discuss the overclocking of the card.

but thanx anyway.

OVERCLOCK FIRST then you softmod, that is the only way it worked for me...

VoodooProphetII - What are your clock settings? Mine won't go higher than 350/810 and it's set to 12/6

I went up to 380 and 800 if my memory serves me correct, and it was a 6800 Vanilla, but in the end almost the same...
