Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes!
On the car: Havent heard back from the insurance b@stards yet. Will call them later and moan.
On the op: My doc says there is no rush to get the op as the hernia is not serious and is not causing me any pain or discomfort, so I will probably get the surgery done towards the middle of the year.
On bachelor living: I am adjusting nicely and am now cleaning up after myself. Cooking is still too advanced for me tho. I eat at my grans place at every opportunity.
I came home one evening and caught my flatmate eating bread with Lays chips. I hope I dont sink to those depths....

I doubt they will accidentally tie a knot while they are down there. But thanks for the heads-upRikkelz wrote:backup your gene pool! They're going to tinker with your spermatic duct! Take no prisoners!

There is a less invasive surgery, but they say it is not as effective...
I went for a checkup on Tuesday, and the doc found that I have developed another hernia, this one on the left side of my groin. He also noted that my original hernia has grown noticeably bigger - and he reckons it's operation time.
I have scheduled a date: 17th April, at St Augustines Hospital.
Due to having hernia's on both the left and right side of my groin, they are going to do the laparoscopic repair, as opposed to the open surgery that I linked, as this way, they can make one incision in the middle and use all their little gizmo's to get to both sides.
The surgeon who is going to do the surgery explained it all quite well:
The surgery is minimally invasive, so I will only be in hospital overnight.
There are a few risks, the most troubling one being that the surgery is not 100% effective, and there is a 10% chance of a recurring hernia in the same region
He also mentioned side-effects like pain, fluid in my scrotum, numbness, inability to urinate and other fun stuff.
ooi...thats not gonna be fun.
Err, the side effects dont sound too good either!
Id hate for something like that to happen to me!
What causes the hernias?

Well, at least you know your risk of marriage is extremely lowered for the next while... This should keep you out of trouble at all those weekly office parties you people seem to have down in durbz...jamin_za wrote: He also mentioned side-effects like pain, fluid in my scrotum, numbness, inability to urinate and other fun stuff.
Kidding aside, All the best for the op man...

Statistically about 90% of the population will contract marriage. But there is hope - a treatment known as divorce is now curing 50% of all people with marriage
No, actually most people do really stupid things just before waking up in hospital.Kher-za wrote:just so you know. people do stupid things when in hospital.
Listen, if I wake up with breasts... well... that might not be so bad actually.Y0da wrote:Imagine if you wake up and find that you have become a she-male!

Hey Guys
Just popped in for a few minutes to say hi.
I have made a full recovery from the op - everything went smoothly and I am fine now!
Thanks to all the peeps who sent me SMS's and called. You guys know who you are!
Sorry for not replying to many of you, but I was a bit overwhelmed by the volume of messages.
After all is said and done, I have a few interesting hospital stories, as well as a disconcerting bald patch between my thighs and stomach. But it's all good.
