Hey, time for a thread resurrection
This weekend I moved out of the house and into a flat.
Not by choice.
I'm such a retard my family have decided the only way they will ever be rid of me was if they moved to another country. They leave for Australia on Saturday at 1PM
So anyway, now I am a bachelor.
I need some tips from other self-sufficient members on how to suvive - and do it cheaply.
I cant really cook - so any people in durban who know of any cheap eateries, please let me know.
Between rent and my car, I dont really have alot of money to spread around.
My gran has offered to cook for me, but I can ony eat there 2 weeks a month due to my shifts...
My room mate is no help. The stuff he is willing to ingest would upset even the most hardend scavengers.
I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing to be quite honest. I've always been a mummies boy

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.
jamin huns... i'm actually looking for a housemate... too,...
oh,, and DON"T get into the habit of visiting Kentucky or Spur three times a week... it is not healty nor good on the pocket... and if you don't yet, learn to eat rolled oats/nuts/yogurt for breakfast... low GI and keeps you longer before you get hungry

Ya, shot Ike, I have Macro card for bulk buying 1337ness.
I'm not a fan of 2 minute noodles tho. I need to eat about 4 packets just to feel full.
Toast with butter and sweet black coffee is what I have for breakfast most Saturday and Sunday mornings - it's a good barbie cure
The garage down the raod sells those cheeseburger pies for R10. One of them is quite filling. I can see myself eating 3 of those a week

No danger of that. I cant afford to eat too many R30+ meals a month.jee wrote:DON"T get into the habit of visiting Kentucky or Spur three times a week... it is not healty nor good on the pocket...

Living batchelor's life is wonderful, well it was for me.
Food
- Microwave chows all the way. There is a large variety of edible microwave foods. From rice to noodles and even easy to prepare meat dishes (I was too lazy to go that far....)
- Carbo loaded foods like cereals and breads.
- Biscuits and snacks.
- Eating out depends on your wallet. Unhealthy but conveneint and a good break from the day to day...err... food.
- Whenever you are offered a homely meal, never pass it up. Stuff yourself at the table and continously make insinuations on how hard it is to prepare food as a bach. 9/10 times they'll offer you food to take home.
If you're in this for the long run, you could invest in a smal oven stove combo. It goes for around R600 here, I presume.
This is grossly unhealthy, but when I coupled it with some exercise, it did wonders for me. I lost alot of weight and never felt ill or fatigued. It was just awesome.
Well there's alot of toher stuff I learnt along the way and I enjoyed every step. Oh, how I miss that life.... although it does get lonely at times thinking of family.

The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge.
jamin huns... cheeseburger pies are NOT healthy! you will get zits and all sorts of rickets !
@nuke... i find that those sort of food keeps you going much longer and therefor saves you money AND its healthy

last week i saw non lean mince @ the buchery for R46 a kilogram... that's insane. it was R37 a kilo @ pick& pay, but that is insane for a meat producing exporter like sa
Chuck was like R40 a kilo, If you buy bulk it's like R28 a kilo...
But it is still more expensive to single people living alone than families....
