No it couldn't have been that early. Thinking about it, I'm guessing it must have been the year 2000/2001, def. past 1998. It was just before high school for me.THE_STIG wrote: But your 2 family members must have had early ones, because mine has 280 000Km on the clock and the starter motor has never once given any trouble.

Re: First Car
If it was 2000/2001 then that is the next generation(w203) up from mine. That would explain the starter motor issues, as my mom has a 2001 A160 and that starter motor did die, it is also the same one used in some C-class's I think. also the build quality sort of went down the drain after 2000

My high school English teacher had one of those; black with red leather seats and everything. He was a bit of a douche though.GreyWolf wrote:My first car: Mercedes Benz 280se, much like this one:[/img]
Did a complete restore, unfortunately, the mechanical fuel injection is not the most reliable item ever made, so had to get rid of it.
A friend has one of those. Very nice car and still in good condition, but it swallows petrol like nothing else. Something in the region of 4 - 5 km/l.a w123 series(230E to be exact)

You cant really use them everyday, they are reliable enough but the fuel will cost you......but if you want an affordable, reliable classic then look no further. Hence why I want oneKALSTER wrote:A friend has one of those. Very nice car and still in good condition, but it swallows petrol like nothing else. Something in the region of 4 - 5 km/l.
