Why did the quest game die?

I suppose the rpg took over, but does not seem to be as much fun as solving puzzles. Like the games of Shivers or Monkey island or Broken sword.
 
 Why did they die?:-(
 
 ps I am looking for the baldurs gate 2 throne of bhaal upgrade if anyone can assist.

Hey some RPGs have got an element of quest to them. Take Baldurs Gate 2 for example. There were enuff bloody riddles and puzzles in that RPG

I am going to play that now, but I want the upgrade first, did u play it with or without?

Nah i neva played Baldurs Gate 2 with the addon. I dunno if it gives you new characters, but it has to give you a new area at least. But it was still pretty cool, but also bloody hard. Tryna play neverwinter nights now. Its kinda similar to BG2

I have bought both neverwinter nights and morrowwind3, but decided after Diablo2 and dungeon seige to start with the older game first that I have had for more than a year.
 
 Now I just need the Addon.

Quest games went into a slump because of the multiplayer game revolution, and after that because of the RPG craze. They´re coming back though. Lucasarts is working on the sequel to Full Throttle, and there´s the Monkey Island Series as well as Grim Fandango.
